Am I dreaming?

type of oil

2004 6.0's still dripping ... WHAT THE ?!!!

This post is by a guy on his 2nd (buyback on the 1st) 6. 0L, a 2004, and it is already dripping oil from what they think is the rear main seal. WHAT is going on with these 6. 0L's???

Man if I were this guy, I'd have veins popping in my neck with rage about this.

What do they say "... fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me ... ".

One guy on that site said:

"I was at a San Diego dealer yesterday and crawled under one of their 6. 0L diesel duallies and it has the leak, brand new, still on the lot. "

Kinda' reminds me of the mid seventies Harley Davidson's in the show room with drip pans under 'em. Only difference is that I WOULD own a shovelhead, but never a Ford :D :D

If the oil leak from the rear main is cause by the excess blow by from break in what is going to happen when the engine has 350k on it and has more blow by than when new and breaking in ??? A lot bigger leak than they have now... ... ... ..... maybe they don't plan on the engines running long enough to get worn out and have a lot of blow by.

The way they are going the only way it will get 350k on it will be to drag it behind a Cummins:D

Hey, maybe we're overlooking something here. I'll bet this is Ford's new 21st century high-tech crankcase ventilation system! ;)

The guy is nuts to have accepted another new truck instead of getting his money back.

What Fat Cat said "... fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me ... ".

God bless him.

What's sort of funny is all the Cummins people who keep registering over there and then chiming in with a post about "why are you sticking with Ford with all these problems, my Cummins is perfect... ". :-laf Eventually that's going to make one of these Ford guys explode. I know if it were me it would really **** me off.

At the rate of some the failures, it will either be that, or the chassis will have that many miles and on its 75-100th motor.

They shoulda kept the 7. 3L. Dang EPA ( EveryPETA personsA**) is probably the reason for it anyways.

Some of the drips arent the rear main. There is some kind of valley back there that holds oil from the assembly process. It then drains out slowly causing a slow drip. It is very common on this engine. That leaves you in the position to wait and see if the drip gets worse.

Our construction super has an '03 250 6. 0 auto. It drips and idles rough but hauls azz. The regional super has an '04 250 6. 0 auto. He said it too hauls azz and has the drip. It idles ok but it sure sounds funny when he starts it. It turns over a couple of revolutions before it fires off with a "rrrrrrraaaappppp" yumyumyumyum. The only reason the company buys them is some kinda lease program. They handed out some kind of plan where we could buy our personal Fords through the company discount. Only one of us took the offer and he bought a 7. 3 auto F250.

Ford me once, shame on you... Ford me twice, shame on me. :-laf

Re: 2004 6.0's still dripping ... WHAT THE F***!!!

Looks like now when you bring in an 04 6. 0 the dealer can say the oil drip is "normal" and they would be right :(

My other favorites are. They all do that and its within specs. I fly off the handle when either are said to me. I do not accept that substandard is the standard.

I was just over there reading there forums. What hostile people they seem to be. They just bash each other to death. I am glad to be here. :) :D

Get a small plastic bottle and hang below the leak! Voila... no more rear seal leak on the floor!! :D All Ford needs is a Motorcraft part number like G3ZE-001, a $45. 00 price tag and even more money can be made!!

Whats the Dodge part number for this leak stopper? :)

We had a 2003 Crew Cab 6. 0 that we got for our shop on base in las vegas. Had it for a week and a guy went out and checked the oil and there was none in it. Didn't get it back from the dealership for two months. I told the trans. guys they should have bought dodges.

idle and drip,,,, what about kfb

I think the idle and dripping problem would be th least of my worries,,,,,,,, they unloaded on truck at the dealer across the street (a $54,000 King Ranch Sold Order) and it spit the crankshaft out the side of the block before they could get the truck off the car hauler. I had to that my wrecker (84 Power Ram 350,,gas:( ) across the street and pull it off of the hauler

From irv2.com

This is for anyone out there who has the low end power issue. Has anyone been involved in an accident or near miss because the truck does not respond or responds slowly when you press the accelerator??? After 2 near misses my wife no longer will drive the truck and i don't drive it much as it has also happened to me. I was advised i needed to give Ford 1 more shot and they get that when the Oct. Flash comes out. If it is the same after that it is by-by to a truck i love
