What is the difference?? After selling my 98. 5 I thought I was done with the half year thing.

Genos asked me 04 or 04. 5 today.

Easiest way - look on cummins tag on left of valve cover (engine) if you see '305' its a 2004 - if it says '325' its a 2004. 5



Also the 2004. 5 comes with a catalytic converter from factory - the ol diesel doesn't just smell the same out of the tail pipe. :{



the early 2004 was the 'HO' 305hp/555tq

the later 2004 has the 325hp/600tq version of the Cummins

Early 2004 not available in the HO until march of 04 then april 04 came the new CTD 600 in California. There where 3 engines available in 04, they where the SO, HO 305 and HO 325. I was lucky when I purchased the 04. 5 in april, only the better salesmen knew the difference and my salesman, who sold me 5 vehicles in 10 years could tell me the differance and why. Per "chi440" is the fastest way to determine engine, look on the valve cover.

After looking it is a 2004. 5 325 hp/600 tq. Thanks for the info.

Had it reflashed today at the dealer. Truck only had an oc. on the maintanence record and that is it.

If the build date is pre 1/1/04 it is 305. After 1/1/04 it is a 325.
