2004 Order Restriction.

I was over on another Dodge site and from reading some posts it appears that the Protection Group, Offroad Group, and the Satellite Radio are on restriction. I am upset since my truck order includes the Protection Package and I want my truck built ASAP to avoid EGR. I may go to the dealer tommorow and if things are truly held up I will delete the Protection group in favor of the Plow Prep instead. This way I will get the skid plates and I'll add the tow hooks after delivery.



BTW, the towhooks are the reason for the restriction in regards to the Protection and Offroad Group. I guess the factory ran out of them or something.

I just read that same post and came here looking for information. I'm in the same boat; I want to order in time to get one without EGR. Out of tow hooks? What kind nonsense is that? Sounds like a GM problem! When I ordered my 97 Ram, the Chevy dealer couldn't even take orders on 2500 trucks cause GM ran out of axles!

JLockhart, I went to the dealer today to delete the protection group and it turns out DC did it for me. My dealer had a copy of the original order sheet and it showed the protection group. Today there computer shows no protection group listed and a hundred dollar and change markup to boot. my truck is at D- status. I called DC this morning to confirm the D- status and the women said the truck is in fact D-status and they have no build date but she thought somtime in October.

Sounds like great business practice! Glad to hear production is still close to normal schedule. If this protection group is still a problem when I go in to order, I think I'll play hardball with my dealer and get them to sell me the parts at cost. Thanks for the update!

I also had a 2004 on order but it was placed on a long-term delay. No specific reason given for the delay. I am going to hold my order until January, 2004. I think we will see some nice changes in horse power and torque ratings after January 4th.

LHarper, if you plan on waiting until after 1-1-04 to place a order I hope you are prepared to get a engine with the EGR on it. Also, unless you have inside knowledge on HP or TQ increases I would not hold your breath. However, if you do have inside info please do share.

I think the rumors are that when the EGR engines arrive they are going to increase the HP ratings a bit. Thanks but I can do that with a module or some such thing. My order, placed 2. 5 weeks ago is due to arrive the 1st of Oct. Just got that notice today.

I think we will see a high-output Cummins with 325 horse and 600 pounds of torque that will be available in all fifty states come January 4th. With that we will have to tolerate the egr valve.

I recall that there is a thread or a posting, somewhere, about a site that lists all the restrictions on the different mfgrs. I dont have the link anymore, but maybe someone who reads this will and post it. I used it while waiting for my 03 and knew the paint problem was the reason for the delay. Then the delay was for the light group that was added, but I didnt have that option when I ordered.

Barbwire, D- status means all parts are available and truck is going to be built. By early next week it should go to D-1 status and then I should be able to get a build date or ship date.
