My new Dodge Cummins 2004 has a "road draft tube". Oil blows out of it all over the frame members and bell housing. Wasup? How can a diesel get away with a tube open to the crank case? Does it work differently than the old road draft tubes?
I think I may have the same thing. While installing my new exhaust system I was crawling around under the truck I noticed the front axle was covered in oil. At first I thought something was leaking, turns out it was coming from that tube.
I've experienced the same drip from my blow-by tube. Dodge told me it was normal as long as I did not experience a significant oil level drop. I was informed that previous generation engines had this blow-by tube draining directly into a reservoir that would need to be drained out with each oil change.
