Anyone done the OD off flash?

Reading it is pretty clear on its function but I still have to ask something on its operation after the flash has been done.

Condition #1, OD on

While decelling down from speed, say 55/60 in OD and you hit the TH button, do you get:

A

A down shift to 3rd followed by TC lockup or-

B

A downshift to 3rd only with no lockup?

Condition #2, OD on

Under light acceleration at say 50 in D (3rd) and you hit the TH button, do you get:

A

No change at all at that moment followed later by no OD 4th gear or

B

TC lockup followed later by no OD 4th gear?

Or something different all together?, please post

Thanks!

Coming back to post my own answers cuz I just had the TSB done.

TH strategy is gone for sure :{ now works like my 03 did but I knew that going into this and will be addressing that with this: #ad

The BD TowLoc has a 3 position switch-

  1. Off
  2. TorqLoc
  3. AutoLoc

Doubt I will use off much at all and if my research & programming works out as planned it will be TorqLoc for daily driving with AutoLoc for towing duties and a single push of the TH button for OD on or off.

Reading the install instructions, I would think your warranty would be gone, if your not over the miles. But that said... that's pretty much what I would like to do. I want control over the overdrive, but still want to lock the TC, and there aren't many other options. I guess taking the BD TowLoc to the dealer for the install!! All they could say is no.

Rock on

Something that works outweighs the warranty at this point for me. I am sure my exhaust brake would void that too being an auto.

Looks like the Suncoast product is just up to 03 Dodge and on up to 06 for Ford's.

Since it has a control panel for inputs looks like you won't need a PC to change programing like the BD, interesting product.

I have a full Billet DTT now and added the shift enhanser, with that set-up I get the best shift points both up and down. Towing in the mountains it works awesome, part throttle downshifts are at just the right rpm for the load/grade.

I stiil have the tow haul function and it doesn't shift into od too early. I have done the od switch flas for guys with aftermarket trans and they miss the tow/haul function.

I can see why, you loose some key functions:

  • On the 4-3 downshift with the button you don't get lock up anymore
  • While climbing hills in 3rd you don't get lock up on demand with the button
  • No more automatic 4-3 shift while slowing down in TH
  • Once you manage to get lockup in 2nd or 3rd while towing it won't hold as long

Not only do you get all these back with the TowLoc but they are programmable to the users liking plus it controls an exhaust brake.
