I just noticed that my 2005 Ram with the stock 48 RE tans is starting to leak around the front of the bell housing/pump/converter area.

I checked the fluid and it looks good, but was full of air bubbles.

I'm pretty sure it is not overfilled, could this be a pump or converter problem?

I was told to just take it to the dealer and have then fix it under warrenty, but I never liked how it shifted anyhow, and I don't want to remove all the performance stuff. Anyhow, I'm planning on a new converter and rebuild/upgrade of the clutches and valve body.

Any recommendations of valve bodies, shift kits, converters are welcome.

My 04. 5 is doing it , my 99 gasser did it and the dealer just blew me off. I'd be curious how far you get with D. C. on this. I have even gunked it and it comes back.

My first thought would have been overfill; but you've already checked that. I wouldn't even bother going to the dealer since you are considering an upgrade.

I am sure you will get several suggestions (ATS, Suncoast, etc). You can see by my signature who I went with. For what it's worth, I think they are all good and any of them are light years ahead of the OEM unit.

It usually boils down to two issues:

#1 Who you feel comfortable with when you talk to them about upgrade options and recommendations.

#2 Which of the companies has an installer near you.

The sooner you make your pick and get the work done the better. You will amazed at the improved shifting and power transfer to the wheels.

Interesting!!!!! I just took mine to the dealer today for UConnect not working and the transmission leaking just as you described. Thought I would get on here and check if any others were... ... Mine has 20500 miles.

I just noticed it on Monday after a deer hunting trip. No rough off road driving. Just used it to get us there.

I will let you know what the dealer says.

My 05 does the same thing. The dealer told me it was the crankcase vent hose. Not sure if I believe it, but at least it's documented in truck history. No spots on the ground yet.

I've got an 05 and just noticed it was dripping from the transmission pan bolts. I put some torque on them and got most of them to stop but still have some seepage. If they don't stop it'll be a trip to the dealer.

Mine turned out to be a leaking hose. The paperwork says "leaking at hose by turbo block, tighten clamps. "

It appears to have fixed it.
