This truck is new to me as of about 2000 miles ago. It was running great and has recently developed a problem that has left me roadside once. And had to limp home the second time. The problem is that when turned on the truck runs great. And will rev, move, drive, and generally function as it should unless you punch it or rev it up around 2000 rpms. If and when you do that the some dash lights will flash, I will loose the fuel gauge reading, the truck will die, and I can't talk to it with my snap on Solus. It will crank and crank with no start.*
My first troubleshooting attempt to fix it led me to see all fuses, breakers, and relays were good. I cleaned the battery cables and when I reattached them, the trucks fuel gauge worked and it started right up like it should. I drove it "fixed" for another week 5-7 times about a total of 200-300 miles with no more problems.
I went to take it to town the last time and as I got up to 70mph, it did the same thing with the dash lights and quit. I unhooked the drivers side battery cable for 15 seconds and it would start and run. Tried to drive it home and it did this 4 more times. I finally figured out that if I kept the truck under 2000 rpms that it would rune fine.*
P.S. I did install new battery terminals on the battery cables and the smaller positives and negatives at the batteries between the first occurrence and the last. They are crimped on high quality terminals and bolt on battery battery terminal adapters. PLEASE HELP!!! I have looked all over the internet and can't find this issue anywhere.*
