Hi guys,

I just signed up and I'm in a pinch. My truck is stranded at work and I'm borrowing vehicles to get around.

Anyway here it goes.

I drove the truck to work today (about 20 mins) and parked it. No problems during this time.

I went out around 2:30 to leave and the truck wouldn't start. It will turn over but nothing else. I have noticed that my fuel gauge and battery gauge are dead. I tried the gauge test (holding the trip reset in while turning on the key) and everything acts as normal.

Of course, I didn't have the smarty with me. The truck has been running SW9 on Revo for the last year or so. I hitched a ride and got the smarty. It try's to connect to the truck but throws the ERROR COMM. TIME OUT.

The other thing I have noticed is the fuel pump relay is cycling every second or so. I'm still running the stock in tank pump. It's reading pressure (pulsing from the cycling of course) so it shouldn't be the problem.

The radio, cig lighters, etc work fine.

I did some searching and came across this thread.

It sounds a lot like my symptoms but I wasn't in the middle of programming when it occurred. I've checked all of the fuses and still need to put a test light on the fusable link running to the ECM.

Anyone have any ideas? It sounds like the memory in the ECM has left the building. If so, where is the best place to get an ECM for an 05 manual.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Matt

Use the smarty and see if you are getting any codes. If not try disconnecting the batteries for 15 minutes and re hook up.

I tried the smarty but it won't connect to the truck. It just comes up with the ERROR COMM. TIME OUT.

I disconnected the batteries for 5 minutes. Maybe that wasn't enough.

Might try sending a private message to Bob Wagner and see if he has any input. Sounds like it could be a ECM, but I really don't have a clue.

It ended up being a bad connector in the harness. The truck runs now. But at nothing more then idle. The APPS is bad too. Dodge quoted me $121 for the part but it's on national backorder.

Update:

after getting a new fuel pedal and getting the truck back, it continued to be problematic. The fuel guage worked when it wanted to, the rpms would blip up and down, and finally, it would just cut out and shut off under any throttle situation.

Everything ended up being a bad connection at the large plug right above the valve cover. Mumau Diesel cleaned everything up and made sure it was plugged in tightly and so far everything is running great!
