Looking to buy a gift for a couple of friends who've really helped me. They have an '05 2500 CTD ext. cab swb 4x4. My buddy's isn't sure what power mods, if any, he wants to do besides exhaust. I know he's been eyeing the Aero Turbine 5050XL. Any feedback? I was thinking of him an exhaust or gauges. Thanks guys.

Quad Commander by will get him 1. - Fuel Press. 2. -EGT- 3. - Boost 4. - Oil or Transmission temp. 5. - Rail Pressure 6. - Water temp 7. - Will also control modules that are adj on the fly 8. - Defuel at your own preset parameters such as high EGT 9. - Record the high and low of each parameter. 10. - Updates with laptop ----- Probably does other stuff I can't remember. A factory look A-Pillar is what I have, I love mine. Some people like analog guages, and I do too, but you would spend a LOT of money to get all of above with analog. I wish a friend had bought me mine.

You need a new friend..... I'd be glad to! HAHA Just kidding... . any of the above mods would be great. The commander would be a great gift.

Thanks guys. Looks like he'll be getting the Commander and the pillar mount. :D

BTW - can you guys help me out? I'm not getting much help from the Gen 2 guys. I need to start looking into gauges for myself. Can you guys tell me what range I need for boost and temp ranges for egt/pyro and transmission temp gauges? If there any other gauges I should invest in, I'd appreciate knowing those too. Thanks.

As far as a boost gauge, depending on your mods and future mods, a 50 psi gauge should be good, if you are planning on staying with a stock turbo for the life of your vehicle, a 35lb gauge would be fine. As far as pyro I think they all pretty much cover the same range, up to 1600 deg. They way I look at it, thats as far as you need, any higher and you are already way too hot! Can't help you with a transmission gauge, as I don't have one myself, check the past threads, I know they have been discussed. Check any thread about nv5600's, they all seem to include something about gauges people have added through the PTO covers. Probably the most important gauge for you, with a 2nd gen, is a fuel pressure gauge. With a VP44 injector pump it is imparative that you keep fuel pressure from the lift pump to the injector pump. The second you lose your lift pump your injector pump will be on borrowed time. Any fuel pressure gauge will fine, though, even with a FASS, Glacier or Walpro pump kit your fuel pressure will be in the 14-18 psi range. So any gauge that reads higher than 30 psi will probably be unneccessary. Hope that helps. Good Luck
