I do not disagree at all. That is why I run a 2 micron Racor filter (R90S) on my truck after the tank with the oem filter in place as a "backup".
That being said, Asphaltenes can appear in all diesel as it heat cycles, and as it starts it will be a small particle, but left unchecked or if the fuel is not used up that quickly compared to heat cycles, it will bond together creating larger masses. I have seen tanks that look like they have small black pellets in the bottom of them.
Also if you have ever pulled your fillter and seen this (not my truck, but picture from google), then you are seeing the begining of them forming.
