... The thing I find interesting is no lift pump issues yet. Maybe, just maybe DC finally got it right. ...

Are you running a FP gauge? I have yet to install mine (taken from the '01 before trading. ) But, from what I have read, the FP is not as critical as past models. I will put mine on in time, but what kind of pressure readings should I see? Will they be similar to the 2G models (i. e. RPM up/ FP down . . etc... )

I have not installed a fuel pressure gauge but it is on my to do list.

For the CP3 trucks the recommended PSI should be 8-10 idleing and 6-7 PSI under full throttle on a stock truck. DC does not use pressure for determining a good or bad lift pump they prefer to use volume measurement. I think the rating is 45 GPH minimum.

This is just my personnal feelings and applies to a stock truck only. I feel as long as there is positive pressure at WOT checked at the injection pump there is sufficient fuel flow for the CP3 injection pump. I would check the lift pump fuel volume flow if pressures got that low though just to be safe. Like I said this is just my personal opinion.

EDIT; the pressures applies to the 2005 in-tank lift pumps only. 2003-2004. 5 trucks use a different lift pump mounted on the fuel filter. 1998. 5-2002 VP44 trucks also use a different pump mounted on the engine block.

9K ON MINE NO PROBLEMS TO DATE, TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER YET FOR WORK. GREAT TRUCK. ALL KINDS OF POWER. Oo.

About that driveline slack I have that too but its easy to deal with. I have just learned to let off the throttle easy and dont just drop the hammer when coasting in gear. After getting used to it you can't even tell its there, unless you let off fast at highway speeds (thats when mine is most noticable).

While not my own I drive a 05 2wd 3500drw everyweek for work. It was purchased Nov of 04 after my boss borrowed my 03 for a couple of weeks while I was at SEMA. His 6. 0 Ford broke down and he had some trailers to get to Fla. It started out pulling a 48FT enclosed gooseneck,It now pulls a 34ft tag. It has 137K on it. What Ive known that has gone wrong on it. The clutch fan which took a couple of trips to the dealer to figure out,u joints went about 80k,brakes at 70k, rear axle seals replaced same times a brakes,3 sets of tires,3rd set he finally put some micheliens on it. Exhaust mani developed a crack at about 120k,wasnt all the way through the mani but upon removal a exhaust bolt was broken off which was causing a exhaust leak. Thats it only, mod it has is a AFE Intake. Oil is changed every 5k,trans every 25k,a Deep pan is going on the trans this week, fuel filter every 15k,Rear every 50k. It gets 11-12 mpg with the 34ft trailer and 20+ empty. he has since bought 2 more dodges,A 05 G56 4wd 3500 srw that he just sold to a friend of his and a 4wd 3500 drw auto. His 6. 0 just returned from another trip to the dealer and doesnt have many miles on it. I think ive converted him:)

When I had mine in for the 1st oil change I also had them look at the a/c as it was not cooling well when I bought it in August. They found a leak and replaced a hose (I forget which one). Other than that, no problems. However I only have 5K on it so I would expect no problems.

I bought my 2500 in Mar '05 and have 21K without any problems. It's never been back to the dealer for any work since I do all my own fluid changes. I love the truck!!!! The last trip from Vegas to Sacramento I got over 21 mpg do between 70 and 75.

I purchased my '05 in late August 2005. I have 3000 miles on it. Problem areas:

G56 trans replaced at 400 miles

Replacement G56 has a buzz in 5th gear

LF tire loses 2 pounds of air a week - no resolution yet

2 cab clearance lights are getting moisture in them - have not addressed this with the dealer

Overall I like the truck. This G56 stuff makes me uneasy. I sold my 98. 5 5 speed to my brother. Occasionally, I drive the 98 and I realize how much more refined the 05 is.

Picked mine up in May 05 after waiting 7 weeks from the time I ordered it. This is the third CTD (97, 2000 and this one) and so far with 13k miles, just a few little problems. Been to the dealer just once, had them check out the door seals (new ones are much better design), noise in the window regulator (drivers door) but seems to have quit, and the thing that bugs me the most (because I see it all the time) and is still a problem is the faint flicker of the high beam indicator when the low beam lights are on. But other than that I love the truck. I have noticed a slight shake when the truck shifts (Need better trans/tc) when the edge juice w/att. (HOT) is turned up to level 5! :--) Also I guess if I was going to complain about one thing would be I wish the sirius radio displayed the artist name. Anyway great truck!!

flicker high beam indicator

TSPECHT, just wondering if you have ever found the cause of the flickering high beam indicator light. When I took my truck in for a couple minor repairs the tech told me that it might be caused by some aux. lights (light bar under front bumper and 2 gauges) that I have on my truck. So I disconected the lights and noticed no difference. So I was wondering if you had extra aux. lights also on your truck. Thanks and let me know if you come up with a solution. Thanks again!!

Our 05 has 70k+ (not sure what exact mileage is)

Overall the truck is fine. Have had a problem with the transmission popping out of 6th since new, fighting the dealer on this. Just had to have the exhaust manifold replaced and head machined due to the factory bolts pulling out

25K on my 2005. No issues except occasional slight rough running at idle that might be an injector not quite right. I dump a can of Sea Foam in and it runs smooth as a babies butt for another 5K or so.

I like my truck.

19k on mine, ordered nov. of 04 and picked up feb 05. I have had a speed sensor go out and the reverse light switch on the 5600. Everything else has been great.

Running Great

12K. Took rig in at 1500 miles to have leaky transmission gasket replaced. "5 star" Dealer said many of the Mexican transmission gaskets were installed hastily. Have had no problems. Have noticed that my two prior Fords had MUCH better quality paint from MFR. My 1994 F150 still looks "newer" than my 2005 Dodge. Keeping my CTD irregardless. Now an F250 with a CTD might convert me... ;) Best PER TANK mpg 19. 72, worst 9. 21 avg 14. 42 and two at home oil & filter changes. Oil samples, within "normal" limits. Stock rig so far, CTD pulls like a champ !

12. TST twins program

13. Ramifier (no more downloaders, they make a great big footprint)

14. sps62

15. speed cost money how fast do you want to go!!!!!

Ordered Jan 15 2005, built Feb 2 at Saltillo, arrived at dealer Mar 4, delivered Mar 8.

I should hit 20,000 miles this week, just in time for her first birthday.

No flaws, no problems. No launch shudder unless I induce it with the LS. No funky shifting with the 48RE. Absolutely no death wobble or alignment problems... truck still drives dead straight, and the tires are wearing beautifully (OEM General AmeriTrac all-season) - no reason I won't get 50K on this rubber. Fuel economy is what I expected, about 2 mpg less than my 96 12-valve under similar conditions.

Could not be happier with this truck... and I kept my 96 for almost 9 years because I liked that one so much.

Took delivery 10/04, it's spooky how good this thing is doing. 25K on the clock.

Resealed the 56 honey shift tower. Did this one my self.

Erroneous P0191 code (turned out to be nothing).

Went through the clearance light moisture thing (cracked lenses).

Thats it

Mac

I had some problem right when I bought the truck.

The 70 MPH Vibration - Rear axle replacement fixed the problem after the dealer tried replacing the driveshafts first.

The drivers side door seal is slightly tore, but I haven't had it replaced yet. The dealer will probbably give me greif for all the mods on the truck.

At about 5,000 miles steering box started binding up, and was replaced by dealer. About the same time I blew the crimp on the stock plastic intercooler, again dealer replaced no problems.

Currently 22,000 miles and no other problems.
