2005 owners, How are things holding up?

Mine was purchased in 12/04 and has almost 20000 miles. Hasn't had any problems at all except for the door seals which will be done sometime in the next year or so and also the flickering high beam indicator.



My wife's was purchased in 6/05 and has had no issues other than the door seals with only 9000 miles at this time. I am very happy with these trucks!!

Got mine in July of 05, and after 12k miles, I just got a new steering gearbox, and sirius receiver replaced.

Got mine march 05, Now hasn 25,000 miles on it.



Shredded serp belt replaced.

Both door seals.

Leaking plugs on top of engine block resealed

leaking power steering line (loose)

Hose that goes from radiator to overflow bottle was leaking. I put a hose clamp on the radiator end.

Auto dim rearview mirror didn't work.





Mostly little stuff, but i still love it!

Well, mine is an early-build (January 2004) 2004. 5 which I bought on March 31, 2004. I have just under 20,000 miles on it now. Problems:



1. Shredded serpentine belt replaced at 5400 miles (no reason given for why shredded - many posts here and on DTR about this issue)



2. CP3 replaced at about 19,000 miles (again, see many posts about this issue)



Otherwise, truck runs like a top.

Took delivery of my '05 DRW 4 door 4x4 Jan 28 last year. Power steering pump at 12,000 and 12,500. New nv56 transmission at 14000. New u-joints at 31000. Have 38500 now. About to start looking for new rubber. Pretty happy with it.

Guys, don't get the 04. 5 confused with the 05 trucks, there are alot of differences. This thread was started for the 2005 trucks.

Bought mine in April of '05, now with just under 18,000 miles and no problems yet. It has been a great truck I am very pleased with it. The door seals are ripped but it doesn't leak and the dealer said if they replace them they will be ripped again in a few months.

Had mine replaced, Chrysler has an updated door seal it has a hard rubber spot at the bottom where the corner of the door rubs.



My '05 has 10,174 miles on it, had door seals replaced and a new steering gear box, otherwise any problems were my fault I. E. BOMB's baby :-laf :-laf

picked mine up end of June 05, 27K on it, back bumper has dent from hitting a trailer. They will not replace it. I am outraged - they said bumper to bumper warranty!! It is also very dirty after driving in snow. I have been told by many Chevy and Ford owners that their trucks never dent or get dirty. I must have a lemon. Anyway, no problems with the truck.

:--) Thats odd! I have taken my 2004. 5 off road many times in dirt and mud while hunting and fishing. It has yet to get dirty. I would give your dealer a call about this.
A $40,000+ truck should NOT get dirty. :-laf

Update. Our 05 now has 95k and needed a fully transmission replacement.

The multi-function switch also took a dive. The NV5600's are in very short supply it seems and our truck was in the shop for several weeks before we got the trans installed. The one that was installed was incredibly stiff, dealer reordered another transmission had it in in two more weeks and changed it out, seems to be ok, but no mileage on it to speak of.



Also, in comparison to my 04. 5, things like the paint and the chrome don't seem to be holding up as well. It's fine for gloss but tends to chip more and the grill chrome is acting like a 94 model and bubbling.

Bought mine new in April 05... Just had it in to replace the clearance lights per the TSB because they were leaking. No other problems.....

UPDATE: New injection pump at 15K (And, a new vacuum pump housing 50 miles later 'cause the torque happy mechanic cracked it while installing the pump )

Have an "05, pulls to the left since day one (someday I get it back in to fix that problem) other then that no issues at all. Not to curse apparent good fortune, but what is the door seal problem?

Rough Ride

17,000 miles, 20MPG computed, Michelin tires. Took delivery last July, previous truck was an '03 SLT QC 4. 7L, I replaced the shocks on the '03 due to rough ride now the '05 is starting to ride the same. Minor bumps are starting to jolt the truck. Ride is just getting harsher and harsher, time for shocks, I put Rancho adjustables on the '03, might do it again for the '05. Trans is not a fast shifter and I have changed the oil to the Penzoil.

Bottom line, I do like it, I'm keeping it.

entire exhaust fell off in front of cat @ 33k [it really did]

all four factory bfg's are sidewall cracked so bad they start to go flat @ 34k

Happy with mine.

I bought picked mine up 10/13/2004. Had 8 miles on it. It now has 59,516 as of tonight. No issues except the door seals, which don't leak so I don't sweat them. Had one electrical issue with the left turn on the trailer tow blowing the fuse. Dealer could not find a problem, so I ended up fixing it myself.



I love the truck!

11,500 on mine so far and i'm taking it in tomorrow to have the a/c looked at. It just blows ambient air? Other than that it's been perfect so far.

My 05 just tripped 1/4 million miles today. I am leased to a company that moves trailers so about 80% is loaded towing. My repairs have been

73K Right front wheel bearing hub

113K Left front wheel bearing hub

185K A/C Heater blower motor

215K All U joints and carrier bearing

21,700 miles now but still no trouble except that stupid turkey I hit a few weeks ago. Dealer has parts on order (headlight, air filter box, fender, etc. ), so the truck goes in when they have the parts.

just rolled 30,000 miles bought in june of 05. no problems. Afe intake muffler delete. the tires still look brand new (stock mich ltx)
