Made a trip to the desert this week-end and the power brake booster literally blew up. A big chunk came off and then of course I lost power brakes as well as power steering. Only 1300 miles on my new truck!!! It is still at the dealer getting repaired under warranty. Anyone else heard of this type of a problem?

Wow! Never heard of anyone blowing up a brake booster like that. I suppose it's quite possible, since it runs at pretty high pressure. Must've been a defect in materials (casting imperfection?). Let us know what happens!

Sorry to hear your new baby is in the shop. How did you manage to drive it with no power steering? You must have arms like Schwartzenegger (sp?).

Yes, I am sure it was a flaw in the cast assembly. Steering in the sand and dirt wasn't so bad when moving and staying in 4 wheel drive helped. I only wish I had guns like Arnold.

Never heard of that either! I'm glad no one was hurt and your truck is getting fixed. Had to be a bad part to begin with. Please let us know what they say.

Got my truck back from the dealer. Faulty casting of the brake booster was the verdict and all covered by warranty. We'll see if they reimburse the rental car since I purchased the extended warranty. Keep on Truckin!!!!!

i have a 04 3500 4X4 the same thing happened to me at Christmas get it from the dealer tommorrow. They are replacing master cylinder and booster. It looks like the cast just split in too.
