mastercard moment.

New 2004/2005 Charger!!!

Just got a 2005 Superduty front axle into the shop, it's a reverse cut dana 60, big tubes etc...

the interesting thing is...

it's gonna have a 4 link suspension with coil springs, pretty much identical to the Dodge setup. Due to the way it is sitting in the crate I couldn't see the trackbar mount though.

the mounts are a lot beafier than the Gen 2 Dodges, they are part of the cast diff housing on the driverside, and are made of 1/4 plate on the passenger. they are pretty substantial.

sorry but I can't really post any pictures...

If you can't post pictures... . could you send 'em to someone ... . *cough... like me!... cough, cough* Man... I gotta get rid of this cold...

I like the sounds of this axle... . something to keep in mind for future projects. I'd like to see a Dana 80 front... . a little beefier internals and not portal axle weird or 2. 5 ton HUGE... .

There was a guy in one of the off-road mags. a while back. He had a Dana 80 built for the front. Just plain huge, as was the steering linkage. Used heim joints too.

Yup, manual locking hubs still, looks like run of the mill 60 U-joints. A dana 80 seems like overkill for the front to me. I know guys running 700+ horsepower through 60's w/cut 44" boggers. though you DO need diff covers with main cap supports...

the brakes are a lot bigger than the Current model year, 54mm pistons to 60mm. they are also going to come with 18" wheels...

Holeshot, If I can get some pics, I'll shoot 'em your way.

i like the 18" wheel idear. i want to put 20"s on my 04 2500 ram... , and lower it 2"front, 4" rear with 325/50/20 toyo proxis s/t [rated at 3086lbs @ 44psi]

the wheels are the hard part. need a 20x9 or 20x10 with lots of backspacing [±7"] very hard to find. most 8 lug 20" wheels are only 8. 5 wide :(
