2005 3500 track times..

I just thought I would post this info, because it kinda surprised me. My 2005 is just my daily ride that is my toy hauler and work truck. I took it to the track tonight for the first time. It's a crewcab, dually, 4x4 with a camper top, tools in the back, and almost a full tank of fuel. I don't have the crazy larry, just the Power Pup 130 hp tune. It also has a ramifier, though it's set for mileage only straight from TS. It also has the factory exhaust with a walker muffler, factory air intake/filter, PS62/14 turbo, Suncoast converter, and HTS shift kit. I told myself I would be happy if the truck ran a 15. 50 or better considering the weight of the big black pig. To my surprise, it ran a 14. 51@93 in the quarter with a 9. 28 eighth time. I didn't expect that with just the 130 hp tune.

If it runs a 14. 51 now, what do yall think the crazy larry box will make it run? I also have injectors on the to do list. I'm curious to see how much time others have dropped going from the 130 tune to the 230 tune. Any info will be appreciated.

I have to mention this. . There was a nice guy there that approached me after the run, and he had a 2004 2500 4x4 cummins. He had BD twins, additional inline fuel pump, full Suncoast trans, TST twins program, and more. He said 14. 30's were as fast as it would go. He thought that was pretty good, until I advised him he should be atleast in the lower 13's. I thought he may be launching in 2wd and spinning to get those times. I was wrong, he was also launching in 4x4 under boost. Something just couldn't have been right with his truck.

Oh well. . I forgot to mention 2. 02 was the best I could get the 60' time. . That was the one place I thought it would be quicker. .

Nice job morse. Sorry could not help with your power pup. The big black is not a pig no more. I'll bet your happy you put the flexplate in now. Otherwise when everybody starts to realize how to make power with a 600 or 610 and they rip the center of the flexplate off and they shut the truck off and can't restart it. Congratulations!

DHawk, the trans shifts quick, and solid with your shift kit. I need another programmer to get it in the 13's now. .

Man I hate it when that flexplate stuff happens !!!! especially when your not close to home.

Morse : Congrats on the time,Glad to hear that you got fixed up with HTS their tranies really put the power to the ground :)

You Flexplate Breakage, Or Case, Or Intermediate Shaft. Just Kidding!

12 Flat, Piece Of Cake, You Gained 1. 5 Seconds In 05 Whats Another . 8of A Second. The Red Rocket Wants More, Like Maybe It Wants Tomac.

yea your right I hated getting beat by that red Chebby, actually I want to run that 12. 00 quick diesel class. If I can get Tomac that would be a bonus. So I am planning on a few more mods

Went back to the track tonight. . Unloaded the tools in the bed, less than a half tank of fuel, and installed a K&N filter system. I also weighed the truck prior to going. It weighed in at 8040 pounds with me in it. . Tonights track time was a 14. 36@94. 60' was 1. 99. This is still with the 130 power pup and PS62. I have no smoke. I need a real performance tune bad. . 13's would be nice. .

I hope this gives others a little idea of what a not so pricey turbo can do for our trucks. After installing the K&N, I have noticed something a little odd. It sometime seems to bark a little between shifts.

I am running pretty much the same combination as you except I do have the Crazy Larry program on mine I am running an HTB 62 w / stock injectors and I am turning 12. 8 I think giving the extra weight that you have about 800 # over my truck if you upgrade to the crazy larry you should be around 13. 5 -13. 6

Toolman, thanks for the reply. . 12. 8 is great. . I would be very happy with a 13. 5 with this thing. . Any 13 really. . I just ordered a set of Dynomite Diesel 90 hp Injectors, so that should help me out as well. . We'll see. . Thanks again. .

I added DDP 90 hp injectors to the truck, and tonight it ran a 13. 84@97. Strong headwind. Came out fairly easy for fear of breaking the input, and it still cut a 1. 93 60'. Eighth mile was 8. 84@78. 97. Injectors were a good investment. The Big Black Pig is now a true 13 second tow truck. . I'm happy. .
