Wanted to share this with the membership, could save you some inconvenience.
Went to start the 5.9 with under 42k miles, no click, no crank. Verified it was in Park, wiggled shifter, no dice. Glad it was in garage not out in the woods.
Batteries and wiring checked okay.
Decided to check basics before pulling starter and installing larry B contacts.
Checked for igniton start signal voltage to starter at firewall connector drivers side, ok there.
Jumped start solenoid wire to directly to battery positive and it cranked normally.
Plugged the single wire connector back together at firewall and has worked fine every time since.
All I can figure is a high resistance connection at the firewall connector, connector looked clean.

Do you know if it was ever flashed to fix the no-start issue in the TIPM?

I’ll try to find the TSB.

I didn't know they had a tsb for this , if you could find it and send it to me...I'd sure appreciate it , Monte

I don't think it applied to 07's, just 06's.

If the TIPM senses too much starter current for so many cranks it will disable the starter. The issue is that the threshold was too low on the 06's and it would do it under normal circumstances on some trucks... like my dad's when he got stranded in the middle of MT.

I'm interested too although with over 150K miles I've never had an issue. I do have confidence in my dealer who has done most of my service work over the years.

Ok, Thanks for reply, I've never had any problems but I've never been in dealership with truck except to turn on fog light switch activation, don't know if there is any tsbs for my truck...Thanks again, Monte

Thanks for posting this John. My build date of 02/06 is affected (infected? :)). I frequently find myself in the middle of nowhere in cold weather so this is good to know.

My original post 2006 has a Feb 2006 build date as well. Not sure if any flashes have addressed the TIPM
but truck has been to dealer twice in past for airbag recalls.
Still starting ok but I now keep a simple little jumper wire tied to the under hood harness in case it ever happens away from the shop. And I appreciate everyone's input on this topic!
