Yes it is off and getting checked out while I'm gone. You know I still have never had a headgasket issue... ... . knock on wood. I'll let you figure out why it is off.

Call it a $10,000 year from someone that isn't rich in most peoples eyes, but I still pay my biils on time and give my tithe every payday.

Jim

I already know one reason why the head is off. :( Sorry for the bad luck.

That was the only reason for it to come off. The fix is in-work as we speak! Maybe I can get it back together during my Christmas leave period, we'll see what happens.

On a more positive note though, I did get to see the same ole' hammer and chisel grove in the head gasket from the O-Ring..... no wonder I never have an issue there.

Jim

Dropped valve seat... 6 pistons and a new head! between my buddies truck and mine there are countless drivetrain failures, been two wheel drive most the year! :( we'll get em ready for the mud bogs this year though! :D

happy New Year! :)

I found some more fuel in my truck earlier... it came on so hard and mean I parked it and went out to dinner w/ the wife in HER car... it felt so good, and you know the old saying "they always run REAL good right before they blow up!" LOL ;)

07's already lookin' pricey... I need more clutch, more turbo, I'm eying a water/alky setup, fuel system, planning a transmission swap, etc.

as long as the engine holds up this year, I'll be a happy camper Oo.

You could eat the down time and send your turbo in to have it changed over to a Silver 66 then go for a stage 2 water/meth kit, that would net you allot of power.

Jim

Walked into the house at 11:40 pm with the truck back running and the first re-torque complete ready to drive. I guess that finishes off 06' for me, at least it back running again. Painful fix changing out 2 lifters, cam, head damage(4 bent valves) and had to drop the pan to get all the lifter pieces accounted for. It would have almost been easier to pull the motor.

Jim

Forrest,

So, I talk you into a SPS66 then you get scared of it and have me get it downsized to a 62. All the while I keep saying just run the 66 and see if you like it. Now look where you are. Back to the 66 except now up to a Silver.

Maybe you should listen more ;)

Just ribbing you a bit.

I'm glad everything is workin out so well.

Later,

Wes

My first test/clean the truck up drive was good. Even with a stock cam that turbo really works good, spools unbelievable from the git go. I will tell you though it sure lost the topend punch going back to a stock cam, I know I lost HP just don't know how much.

Jim

hey jim, y did you go back to a stock cam? i know i love the cam i have in my truck, but have thought about trying another companies in the future, when i have some extra cash laying around (haha)

I had run into a situation the other day were the Dodge was down and my Sonoma had a leaking head gasket and I had to get a rental... ... not my idea of fun. So not having a replacement cam I remembered a bud of mine had a new one with a gear on it so I borrowed it to get the truck back on the road as I had gotten the head back. I'll change it sometime but was tired of seeing it sit in the shop not running.

I don't know what did the cam in on the breakage but it may very well have been my fault, I put the gear on and installed it but it probably had 20K on it. You know me so coming home last night I had to light it off with the bottle on, it's still there like that.

What cam are you running now?

Jim

i am running an EEP cam and really like it. it just never seems to stop pulling hard, and it does get the 66 spooling fast. I have never thought the 66 was laggy, most likely bc of the cam
