2006 check engine codes

My 2006 6spd has a check engine that is on almost all the time. On my 2003 i could cycle the key a few times and get the odo display them, what is the proceedure on the 06 trucks? My build date is 08-05 thanks



2006 mega cab 4wd 6spd, tst/edge stack 24000 miles

Some of the "chain" auto part stores can reset it for you . Aren't you concerned what it is?

yes, I want to know what it is, that is why i want ot see the codes that come accross not just reset it. Even if it is soething that i can ignore i would still like to know what it is, and the key cycling is not working. I must be doing something wrong.

Keys out climb in truck, make sure door is shut. Cycle key 3 times leaving in on postion very fast.



Soemtimes you may have to do it a couple times but each time you do you have to pull the key out of ignition and open door and then close door to kill the delay feature. It should work.



Some people try to stand at the edge of the door with the door open and doing it but it won't work.

thanks for the replys, my truck will not do it. It does have a check engine light but i have done the key cycle several times, under those directions and it wont show anything. I have a friend with a smarty, i will see if we can get them out using it. THANKS
