I've found the source of a minor dash rattle in my 2006; it's coming from underneath the dash-top access lid for the passenger side air bag. Has anyone had experience removing that cover? If so, how is it best accomplished? Thanks for your help.

I just picked up My new 06 Saturday and it had a rattle like you describe. It was the transmission dipstick hitting the firewall. I'm not sure exactly how the dealer fixed it but it only took a couple of minutes.

Pull off the glove box door than look up depending on options how much will be in the way.

If your rig is an Automatic, check your dipstick tube, mine was rattling against an AC or heater line producing a noise that sounded like a glove box area noise. I zip tied a cut heater hose around the dipstick tube where the contact was occuring, no more noise. If your rig is a 6 spd, this won't work too well, so let us know what you find!

I have the 6 speed with a similar noise but only if I drive over a speed bump or anything that makes the truck rock side to side. I would love to figure out what it is. Checked under the hood and nothing looks out of place or lose. Sounds like its coming from the dash or firewall for sure.

My 06 six speed has an annoying rattle. I think mine is coming from the shifter or boot area cuz when I hold the shifter to the side it seems to stop or at least let up. May be the cable from the jake. Not sure yet but i'll surely monitor this thread.

I found my noise... apparently Dodge has incorporated a low coolant warning system. When the coolant drops to a certain level in the overflow jug, it splashes around in there just right and sounds like something is loose. Being that its on the firewall, that noise is easly heard in the cab.

I had a leak in the 3"-4" soft coolant line right under the exhaust manifold, easy fix, just tighten the hose clamps however I didn't bother to top off the coolant. I filled the jug to the full line and the noise is gone! Good luck all!

That cover/lid is part of the S. I. R. module. Don`t try to open it.

The module comes out as a unit after the dash cover has been removed.

I`m not convinced this is the source of your noise. I would check the trans dipstick and anything else before ripping into the dash. Just my two cents.

Sometimes noise from the dash area can be elsewhere, after tearing the dash out you can make new noise`s. :{

RogersM i think i had the same thing but i figured out that it was the way i had my hand on the shifter when i moved it the noise stopped! It was really weird i mean i can do it every time now but the funny thing is im not holdin any pressure on the shifter! Weird :D
