So after 38 days & $1067, injector #3 was replaced.

Drove it home to Memphis yesterday, getting awful mpg... 9mpg.

On way to work today... same thing. Diesel is dumping into the engine, oil pressure drops.

Just had it towed AGAIN to the dealer. At least it's in my city this time.

Ideas? Something else wrong, or another injector? Dealer said it normally cost $2K/injector to replace. Is that true? Can't I just get a new engine for like $7K or $8K?

I need a reliable vehicle, what should I do now?

Trade-in and bite the bullet?

Pay for all injectors to be replaced?

Buy a new engine totally? And if so, where?

Here is where it should be covered under warranty if it is the same injector that went out before and now the replacement is out as well.

Also you can now find out if your warranty was voided and if the other dealer not only charged you customer pay for the job but also if they charged DC for the same job under warranty.

Did they ever provide you anything in writing that voided your warranty? You need to have this dealer fix the truck under warranty and if the other dealer double charged you need to file a law suit against them or get your money back if they also charged DC.

My bet is this dealer will not even say anything about warranty being denied and they will fix the truck under the original warranty which will be proof the first out of state dealer was ripping you off.

Please post and let us know.

The whole situation sounds fishy. If you have to buy another injector @ $1000+, of coarse get a quote first, put in after market injectors. They cant be much more and then you know for a fact that ALL 6 are done right. For all you know, the old dealer didn't do anything, maybe injector cleaner and drove your truck around for a month (did you check your milage?)

The new dealer should be able to figure it out since you can bug them easier. I agree you should tell the new dealer what you just went through (he11) and you just want answers! They may step up and get you back on the road. I would give them a reasonable time frame to get an answer, (say 3 days) DC and/or its dealer has screwed with you long enough! If not, find a member/shop that will.

Good point. Did you get the old parts back?

Better point, if he paid full price, no warranty, you would think so. If not, the receipt should show a core return credit.

I can check that if needed ;)

Man, your luck just runs on the poor side over this issue!! :{ I agree with letting your local dealer have a crack at it. I believe that the out of town dealer was taking you to the cleaner. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but isn't it law that they have to give you your old parts back or show a core credit? I would think that they have to prove they did something.

I'm not much for litigation, but if you find that this dealer was scr**ing you, I would consider a lawsuit if for nothing else, to teach them a lesson in morals and maybe they won't try to do it to the next guy that breaks down in that town.

Just my . 02

Brand new truck, no mods correct? Shouldn`t this be covered under the warranty in the first place? Is this the norm for dealers to screw with us? Did you look at the service manager funny so he voided your warranty, this doesn`t make sence. I can`t believe I`m saying this, find a good and dirty lemon law lawyer if they don`t budge. I would be hard pressed to believe that your only mod listed was the cause for a bad injector.

I can hear it now, Dear Mr. so and so your LSD posi rear end is the colpirt as to your injector problems. Therefore we voided your warrnaty on your new 06 Dodge truck. Well they can kiss -- ---!! Stand up to them. We keep them in business by buying their trucks and they rely on return and word of mouth business. Remember as much as you would like yell at them, just SMILE :-laf ... good luck.

I missed something! Why is this not covered under warranty? For a little more than 2K you can buy a set of 6 OEM injectors... . RETAIL!

Whiskey,

If you'll read accurate's web site, they don't service diesel injectors, but do provide a reference to someone who does. It is still a good idea to try to refurbish rather than replace your injectors. That is of course unless you are going to upgrade!!!! Oo.

************UPDATE************

Just heard back from local dealer... injector #3 leaking AGAIN.

I call service manager in Jackson, MS who did the original injector replacement 2 days ago and explain my situation to him.

The conversation went like this:

Service Manager: “To be honest with you sir I have had A LOT of problems with these trucks and injectors. ”

Me: “Does that include vehicles that have never been modified?”

Service Manager: “Yes sir, these trucks are having a lot of issues with injectors, even on totally stock trucks I have seen them go out. You bought that injector new from Mopar, so it should be covered under warranty up there as long as you have your paperwork. "

Me: "I have made sure over the past 2 days nothing has gotten modified on this thing. "

Service Manager: "Chuckles a bit friendly like and says, 'Yes sir, and let me tell you even if it had it should last a hell of a lot longer than 2 days. "

At this point he tells me if I need him to talk to the Memphis dealer or to his Chrysler reps to just let him know. While this entire issue has been a hassle, this service manager has been very honest and very helpful in my opinion. He has admitted problems being their fault when I thought it was Chrysler's fault, and he has been very forthcoming with information.

So the saga continues... I WILL fight this one with Chrysler to my impending death. The dealership it is currently at, I have bought 3 new Dodge Ram's in the past 4 years there, so they should do right by me.

Something is not adding up here, you have a member who willing and has the ability to run your truck to see if your warranty has ever been canceled, you need to take him up on this offer.

This first dealer now admits that they have injector problems all the time on stock trucks yet he said your warranty was void and you had to pay for the injector at that dealer, now he is willing to work with you to get this one warrantied?

Sorry but if they canceled your warranty the first time you can bet they will not honor the warranty on this injector either.

Have the truck run and let us know the full deal on this truck, DC is not going to void the warranty one day and honor it the next, it was either voided or it is good.

I have sent my VIN to Tommeygun, so I have taken him up on this offer. Just now got his PM and replied, so hopefully will hear back today. Thank you Tommeygun!

Just because a dealer refuses to cover one set of repairs, doesn't mean the warranty is voided for good and forever and for everything. That wouldn't be legal. They can't replace an injector, it breaks 2 days later, and then charge me for it again. If you went to a repair shop to get your 1985 A/C fixed, they fix it, and the next day it breaks, do you think they can charge you for it again? No.

*******UPDATE*******

Just got off the phone with the local dealer. He said as far as Chrysler is concerned, "The entire warranty on this truck is completely null and void. "

So here's a big screw you to Chrysler on that one. I have received nothing in writing, but the service manager at 2 dealerships have said so.

With that said, he is going to see if Chrysler will let them cover the current work done a few days ago under warranty.

This may turn ugly, because of Chrysler comes back and says no, what are my options? I am not paying to replace the same part they replaced a few days ago.

Am I going to have to go lawyer? Any recommendations?

1-800-992-1997 - start a case file. Petition to re-instate warranty based upon you fixed breakage out of your own packet...

Man, I really feel for ya - I just ran outside and gave my truck a big hug, and thanked it for not puking diesel inside its own engine... . Cause what you have now just sucks!!

Last resort would be to trade it in... preferably where no TDR members live...
