Last week I participated in a focus group by Dodge and had the opportunity to sit in a new truck scheduled for production in 2006 called a Megacab. The cab is just HUGE. the back seat had full size doors, and plenty of shoulder and leg room for 3 big guys in the back. The rear seat also folded forward to flat. The truck was the same overall length as a quad cab with a long bed, but only will come as a short bed because of the long cab. The body style looks like current models, just longer in the cab. It will come with the Hemi or Cummins.

Not my cup of tea, but if anyone needs the huge cab room, and does not need an 8 foot bed, it may be worth the wait.

I assume they wouldn't let anyone take any pictures huh? Were there captain's chairs in the back or was it a bench similar to the one we have now?

If I recall, it was more than a straight bench, and more like formed seats. However, they did all fold over together to make a flat platform.

Thanks for the info. There is a thread in the general forum that's been discussing this new megacab for weeks. Maybe you can answer a couple of questions:

1) Is the short bed the exact same size as the current short bed?

2) Is there any outside access (small access door) for behind the rear seat?

3) I've heard the headlights and grill may change, did you notice if the front end styling was in fact freshened or is it the same?

Thanks.

Only in a short box? That makes no sense to me - when/if I ever "upgrade" my '04 QCab 4x4 SB, it'd be to either a dually or a long box mega cab. Seems like most folks that would want a bigger cab would also not mind pulling a longer box - or maybe it's just me... ?

How re-damn-diculous is it to only offer it in a short bed? In case Dodge missed it, Ford and Chevy offer a larger cab in a longbed dually. So much for heavy hauling AND crew comfort/extra storage. It seems to me that they have an opportunity to capture even more market share and they are avoiding it.

Double DITTO!!

If you're going to be hauling a gooseneck or huge 5th wheel, why not have a crew cab long bed available since the wheelbase is shorter than an 18 wheeler. Sure, it swings wider, but you learn to plan for it. I vote for the Land Yacht! I've got to wear out my truck first, so I won't be looking for quite a few years. Hopefully they will see the demand.

Only a shortbed? Seems strange since I thought the pictures I have seen were longbeds. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention.
