2006 engine Dodge failure after sold... HELP

Tell Toyota that you will gladly fix the truck but they will have to give it back to you for 3 weeks in order for you to return it to stock. :-laf You can take the truck to reputable shop and have the engine replaced, then you can sell the KORE suspension, the tires and wheels, and the gears and LSD unit that you had installed. I am sure that there is some one on this site that will gladly buy and swap those parts from your old truck to theirs. When they get it back it will be the stock '06 that you originally purchased.

The way I see it, those parts did not influence their decision to trade with you so they should more than offset the cost of any repairs that they may need to make to THEIR '06 CTD. Besides, they will be selling points for that truck.

Im gonna speak from a dealership side... (my buddy owns a nissan dealership and sells about 250 used a month)



He has his manager look over the trade in... they drive it, they look it over. They plan on spending money to recondition it. They win some and dont spend any money reconditioning other than washing it... They save their $500-750 that they planned on. Now, they lose some where they need $2000 to fix it. Its their problem, they bought it off you and they have to fix it.



I wouldnt think twice about it. Tell them they traded it and as they sell used cars, they are sold "AS IS".

I traded in a '93 Grand Cherokee back in '97 or '98. I knew it had some issues, but had never had them checked out. This was before I became a Jeep GC guru of sorts. They looked at it, drove it, and made a lot of notes in my file. This was 6 months before they found the Jeep that I wanted. Once they found my '96 I went in with the '93. They never even looked at it. A few days later I was back in the dealership and the manager just looked at me and mentioned what a great deal I had gotten. They figured that there was over $5,000 worth of repairs that needed to be made before they could sell it. They sent it to the auction. It needed both front cv joints replaced on the axle shafts, a head gasket was shot, the transmission wasn't happy, etc... Not my problem. This should not be your problem. It is buyer beware. They will just send it thru the auction and get something out of it and call it a lesson learned.

I agree with the other posts. Unless specified in writing, there is no express or implied warranty, and vehicles are sold as is. Buyer beware.

Did you tell the Toyota dealer about the warranty issue? I'm sure they would assume warranty was intact as most would buying it with low mileage. Think I'd ask a attorney about the situation.

Whoever purchases or has purchased that truck has the option to obtain the remainder of it's warranty and also to purchase the extended warranty. The records on the truck at DC will indicate the repairs done so far, and if it needs other repairs, they should honor them to the new owner. Whatever warranty remains is transferred to the new owner when the new owner makes out the transfer paperwork. The manual clearly states how to do the transfer, it's up to the new owner.

i like that one! man i feel sorry for you and your bad luck,my old man warned me of some static he had and witnesed others have with dodge warranties many years ago. told me goodluck when i bought my 05! this story sort of reminds me of what happend to a dealership in florida[i think]a few months back. they ****** the buyer of a new vehicle off and he drove it through the showroom floor...

Wow! What a saga! My posts on these threads have been negative on your side and my opinion still has not changed, however you did the right thing by repairing the truck and that shows caracter on your behalf. As far as the trade goes, that is Toyota problem, I don't think that their is a judge in this country that would rule against you, due to the repairs you paid for and thinking it was over with in good faith. Tell Toyota to enjoy their used CTD and go **** themselves. I hope for your sake that their is another Toyota dealer around for warranty service because they will stick it to you when you bring it in. Best wishes in the future and enjoy your Tacoma, I have enjoyed mine, even towed the Blown Bonus with it. (look at sig. )

I must agree... they should have CARFAX.com'd it. They have every resource we do at there disposal. We usually don't buy or take in a used car without the appropriate precautiouns. I find it hilarious a dealer is upset with a trade that they have taken without DOING THERE RESEARCH!!

Not all repairs are in the chrysler system only warranty work and anything authorized by chrysler will be there most of the time what is called "customer pay" is in the dealer system and not chrysler's beyond popular believe they are not tied together.

If that dealer found a gold nugget wedged up underneath the truck somewhere do you think they would be calling you to return it or give you a percentage of the cash value?



I am a nice person. But when that dealer offered you some cash amount for your trade in, they entered into a contract and as long as the contract says you can not be required to pay for repairs to your former vehicle you are fine.



Now I do like sleeping well at night so just for fun I am wondering if you have it in writing where you would get your warranty re-instated?



If you do not have it in writing, I would swing by the dodge dealer and try to get it in writing.



This is as much a lesson for you as for the person who may or may have been totally in the wrong to utter those syllables.



I recently got my 03 dodge and I traded in my vehicle on this one. I knew the other vehicle had issues and what not and I was not going to be too concerned if the dealer wanted to run a car fax on it and pull codes and go for a test drive.



But when all that paperwork came out and I saw a dollar value placed on that trade in, that was the end of me being responsable for that stupid gmc suv.



They made their offer, I accepted their offer, we signed paperwork, and I have my copies of paperwork showing I no longer own that hunk of junk and I am no longer responsable for that hunk of junk.

Unless you lied to them about the condition of the truck and they can prove it then you have no reason to worry. It is just a shame the Toyota dealer is the one stuck with the repairs and not the Dodge dealership that wouldn't/couldn't fix it right.
