Could someone direct me the location of the engine serial number location. I know it is an eight digit number code.

Drivers side just above the intake horn on the valve cover there should be a white decal like tag with the info on it.

:)

how about on the block, i got a new shortblock but the same valve cover ? My S/N is gonna be different than my valve cover shows. It should be on the block somewhere.

The ISB block serial number is in a horribly difficult location. It is on the flat boss that the oil cooler mounts to, immediately below the exhaust manifold.

That said, it is horribly hard to get to, and on a used engine usually is covered in a layer of rust/dirt that totally obscures it, and it is VERY lightly stamped on every engine I've ever seen.

If you're lucky and whoever put the short block in was smart, they will have noted the new serial number on your work orders/receipts.

It was a warranty replacement, they said it was a new one and not a reman. I doubt it though. Im sure it was a rebuilt from cummins and not a brand new one, i was gonna track the S/N and see if i could find out for sure.
