Hello 3rd Generation Gurus,
I've got an aging 1995 (196,000 miles), 2nd Generation Ram Diesel with the @#$%& 47RH automatic transmission. After a transmission overhaul at 64,000 miles... replacing the first-to-second gear kickdown band lever at about 90,000... and replacing several transmission temperature sensors and throttle position sensors, I vowed to NEVER own a four-wheel-drive truck with an automatic transmission again... EVER. :-{}
Having said that, I just finished reading the 2006 Mega Cab article... and noticed (for the first time) that an alternative manual transmission is being offered for 2006. The article said it was the "G56" that will be replacing the NV5600. I've kind of had it in mind that my next Ram Diesel would have the NV5600, but I don't have a clue about this new G56 transmission.
Do any of you guys know more about this G56 transmission... and could you tell me where it came from... who makes it... what track history is has, in terms of reliability and ability to take the abuse a Cummins can dish out?
I'd love to know more... so bring it on!
Thanks... Kevin
