The new 2006's have a H13/9008 bulb... . seems finding upgrades in this type are IMPOSSIBLE. No Silverstars for sure. Anybody got any suggestions???

A Google search on "bulb 9008" turned up several upgrades.

That's too easy! :D

I too, did that search... I guess I'm looking for something that has the quality reputation of Sylvania.

Well, until the headlights are closer to the ground, the only thing that will really help are iodine-vapor stadium lights... :D

The 06 headlights are higher on the body than the 03-05, which were higher than the 94-02. It's a shame how much I have to use my fogs to get light actually on the road in front of me with my 05.

I heard the 2005 headlights were a big improvement over the 05. Do you feel they are still inadequate?

Is it low or high beam or both you are unhappy with?

No,No, there still the same :-laf as the 2005.

Now on the other hand I heard you can't adjust the headlights on a 2006?

My 06' lights are a huge improvement over my 96'. I ran Sylvania Silverstars on my 96'. As expensive as the lights are they don't last long.

I don't even have the truck yet so I can't comment. I guess I am just anticipating that anything stock just won't be good? :-laf

Ah yeah, I meant 2006 are improved over 05. And I'm talking about the illumination, not the styling.

Silverstars use a bluish filter to shift the color. That by itself will reduce the light output, so they compensate by incresing the filament brightness by making it run hotter. Operating hotter causes them to burn out faster.

9007 specs; ( low / high )

all have same 1000 / 1350 +- 15% Lumens and 55 / 65 W spec;

Standard Life 500 / 250 hrs

XtraVision life 375 / 80 hrs

Silver stars life 150 / 90 hrs

The premium lamps get any increased brightness by operating at the high end of the +-15% spec.

So, you guys are saying the later trucks headlights aren't any improvement over the 04s pathetic excuse for a waste of electricity?

My '05's arennt any better then he '03's I had so I would imagine the '06's wont be either, just my ho. Mabe ill be proven wrong, that would be great!!

why they dont offer a xenon option is beyone me

03-05 have the same lamp and reflector, so same performance.

06 has new lamp and a new reflector design, so possibly different performance.

I didn't notice anyone in this thread that moved from an 03-05 to a '06 to comment on that. Comments on the 06 were much bettter than 96.

In other threads on this site ownes of '06s have commented that the lighting was much better than the 03-05 era.

06 is very good... . 40% larger reflector area... they cast a good beam. Did not park and compare to my buddies 04 but they even appear brighter just sitting there looking at headlights while illuminated... brighter cleaner light... imho

Well, I will find out next Wednesday. Long drive from St. Louis to Detroit area. Last part of drive will be in the dark! I've got a 2004 now with Silverstars that will provide a good comparison test. I will post my opinion next week.

05-06 headlights

Will 06 lights fit into 05 fenders?

The lights on my 05 Laramie really suck even with the $200 Brite Box. Stock lights were far superior on my 02 Chevy. You'd think Dodge engineers might take this into consideration.
