Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the Jeep Liberry CRD???

A friend of mine is having EGR issues.

I do not have all the info just yet... But I will post it when I get it.

We've got and '06 Libby. The above mentioned forum is great. The egr is crap. Only way to fix it is to defeat it. Easy way is to unplug the MAF sensor. CEL comes on but it basically inactivates it. There is an industrious member of LOST that came up with a "box" that kills the EGR and keeps the CEL off. You have to build it though (wiring circuit board, etc. ) There is a few good post here on the Liberty if you do a search.

unplugging the maf sensor greatly reduces the egr function but does not completly eliminate it. I think that if you can live with the cel on and fassion a blocker plate that would work. I have the homade computer box in mine and it has ben fantastic. it tricks the ecu into thinking that the egr is operating and you simply cut the egr silinoid wire. this mod does require cutting into the factory wiring harnes to the ecm and cutting/splicing wires. mine has been running for two years with no issues.

this thread should get you the general idea of what is involved with install after you have built the computer.

I unplugged my MAF sensor over a year ago (just after I bought my Liberty) and made a crankcase ventilation hose to route the blow-by out of the crankcase and not back into the intake (where it REALLY makes a mess of the turbo, intercooler and intake manifold). I would do the crankcase ventilation FIRST and FOREMOST! That blowby REALLY makes a mess. On L. O. S. T KJ forums, they call it the "elephant hose mod" and the unplugging of the MAF sensor is the "off-road mod". I also have a gutless kitty on mine.

MAN this thing will pull a trailer! I had 8,000 behind mine over the weekend. Pulled it 65 mph on the interstate and got damn near 20 mpg doing it (with overdrive off, close to 3,000 rpm! Before the "flames" start, my trailers ALL have brakes. This 8,000# one has brakes on all 4 wheels. Even with a load like this, the trailer can stop the vehicle.

I LOVE my Liberty. It would be perfect if you could get the 6-speed manual with the diesel.

I did the elephant hose early on so the intake is clean. I did the same thing on the 01 Ram after I had to take out the radiator and pressure wash the gunk out from the gear case mounted vent.
