Oh, and allow me to say:

$56K??? For a depreciating asset?????

Shoulda just bought a Viper- at least that would have some collector value someday.

A viper is just not the same as a MegaCab!!!!!!! It could be a collectors item someday, even with the dent in the hood!! :-laf

Well the good news is that there are nice discounts still on dodge trucks (so at least you dont have to PAY 56k), And of all the dodges, the megacab will most likely depreciate the slowest (i hope)

Anyone else with a 1ton Mega notice that the front end bottoms out after going over a high speed bump? The ride is excellent but it just seems like it hits the bumpstops when you go over a large speedbump slowly and try to make it bounce!!

Although my truck is a QC LB, my front axle and bump stops know each other far too well. They meet even on slow speedbumps (man, that sounds so wrong!).

I test drove a 2wd 6spd. Mega Cab last weekend. Really wasn't to impressed, the room and interior layout were nice but the bench seats are HORRIBLE. Wasn't to keen on the idea of the gear shift twisting in my hand. They well take off in 4th gear tho (missed 2nd at one stoplight). Sticker wasn't to bad at just over $40,000. Looked at a 4wd auto loaded Mega Cab on the way home afterwards at another dealership, it was around $52,000.

Nathan,

You have to do it!!!!!

After coming from a "99 QC to this is like night and day. The RIDE, POWER, ROOM and AHHHHHHH, it's great... ... DVD,NAVIGATION,SATELLITE RADIO, SUNROOF, I'd do it again,,,,,, However I got a check engine light today. . The codes are P... ...

0111, 0514, 0071 and 0513, which 0513 I can't find on the site. Maybe a new one for the '06 model????? I done the 3 cycle key test for the codes and the light went off. . Any ideas before I waste a day at the dealer?????

I used the remote start to start but she tried twice before I went out to do it with the key. I has worked perfect up until now.....

Troy

I think there is a TSB on the springs... . cant remember is the 06 was on it or not. Someone in Mexico put the wrong springs in... .

T, you got to change your tag now. You got to add NO to the LS of your tag :)

compared to my 02, its amazing how quiet they are!

This is my 3rd attempt for pictures!!!! Here it goes. .

Update!!!

2200 miles and everything is great!!!! Best money I have spent in a long time, although it was quite a bit... .

2 trips back to the dealer... ... Both were for the Check Enging Light. Once I used the remote start with the key in the ignition, freaked out the computer and tripped four codes... . Drivers side reverse light with moisture in it.

The light was replaced and they ordered a new air intake temp sensor for one of the codes that keeps coming up on the Check Engine Light. I think it is P0111.

Maria is kick butt on getting me to my destinations and answering the phone calls for me. The boy loves the DVD and playing video games in the back CAVE. The room is awsome... ... ... Oo.

The dogs ride in the back and love the topper to keep them cool and warm with the boot between the cap and cab.

Jake Exhaust brake and best dealer to buy Dodge from

TEaton: Drove an '06 Mega 4X4 Cummins 6spd man. Laramie recently. $52,775. 00 in Santa Rosa, CA--Lithia. Sticker shock. Currently have a '94 2wd V10,SLT 5spd with heavy driveline vibration--reworked transmission, exhaust and driveline--to no avail, '97 Passat TDI 5 spd (40-45 mpg) 145K, and a '50 Peterbilt 3 axle with a "335 Hp" Cummins w/Jake brake 5X4 trannies. Was wondering how much the Jacob Exhaust Brake for the Ram Cummins costs--saw one on eBay for $1,000. Do only Mopar and Cummins sell them? Can handy guy install one? Think I'll go for the SLT. Talked with a woman up in Alturas, CA who said she bought her new Dodge Ram in either Idaho or Utah and go the best price. Where's the best place to buy a new Dodge truck? Is it possible to install a "Hidden" Warn winch on anything but the Power Wagon? Maybe a front receiver as well as rear hitch is the way to go--switchable/portable. C. Womack (SF area, CA)

I bought mine from Tomegun. I'm kind of biased because I live in St. Louis!!!! It was a very painless deal. Even less painless after I gave the employee choice number!!!!

The Exhaust Brake was part of the deal but about $1500 installed and it is then included in the dodge warranty. . I took it back to have it adjusted because it vibrated when it engaged with the first installation... No money out of my pocket.

Best INVESTMENT I've made. I love it. Let me know if you have questions...

The dealer you are hearing about is in Idaho and is Dave Smith Motors. They're an outfit that will give you a straight up price and their objective is to do volume, so they don't haggle with you.

A lot of people fly up to Idaho and then I believe the dealership has a pick-up service at the airport to drive you to the dealership and then you drive your truck back home. Google Dave Smith Motors and you'll come up with their site.

SThorud: Thanks for the information on Dave Smith Motors. It sounds like the one I heard about earlier this year. I'll check them out. C. Womack

Here is a pic of a customers Mega Cab... ... Nice!

Beautiful truck, Greg.

Amazing how many on this site (and other sites) think the 2006's are so heinous but yet there's so many saying how cool they look, especially one as nice as in the pic.

Greg

I used to think they were ugly and said so, but I must admit (and it didn't take long) they look sharp now. Dodge doesn't know how to take good pics, plus they have tiny ugly tires on them. The pic above looks nice. I saw an '06 dually the other day and it nearly spun my head off.

The price of new trucks has been RIDICULOUS for a long time... . I'm not looking forward to my $500/mo payment... but can't load up my old truck with more than it was designed to pull and expect it to be reliable--or safe.

Automakers have us by the short hairs, and they know it.
