Hello All, I have searched and come up with several part numbers for a one piece driveshaft for my 2006 Megacab automatic. I was wondering if I could get a driveshaft from a salvage yard what shaft would fit my truck. Can I get a driveshaft off a 2008 Megacab automatic and bolt it in? What is the correct Dodge part number for a one piece shaft that will fit my truck? Thanks for your time. Joel

Anyone? Please let me know if you have the correct part # for a Dodge one piece shaft that will fit my 2006 Megacab automatic. Thanks

Drive Shaft

You can have one made. I have had some made up for some of my trucks in the past. You will have to call some shops where you live to find out who can make them. If the shop you call can not make one up ask them if they know of a shop that can make a shaft up for you and if you hit the right shop thay will know of a shop that can make one for you. Maybe try some off road shops that do suspention lifts or transmision and U joint shops . If you still have the stock drive shaft you can give it to the shop so you can save some cash thay can use the yolks off the ends of your old drive shaft if thay can still use the same diamiter shaft as your old shaft. Thay will tell you how to get the right lenth or give them the truck to get the right lenth. I bet it would cost less having one made then buying a shaft from a dealer if you can even get one from the dealer that will fit your truck.

Thanks TDRdodgeman784, I will check with my local shops but I did think there was a factory shaft that should fit and wanted to check with the dealer since I get a discount that helps out. Take care,

There was a long thread about many people ordering for dodge, and a third party company to get a one piece shaft.
So far thats the fix for the shutter,

Anyone? Please let me know if you have the correct part # for a Dodge one piece shaft that will fit my 2006 Megacab automatic. Thanks

I would run W/O the Damper

Thanks TWest, I called a local driveshaft builder who I have had do work before and was told $500 to $600 for them to make me a shaft. I will check with Dodge. I knew somebody would know the correct part number. Take care,

Hey Guys, I tried the driveshaft "52123122AB 1 8 41, 62 DG8 Has Yoke Without Damper" and it was about 20" too short. I will guess I will try the part # that F-15I Ra'am suggested. I knew it was too good to be true because the cost for the shaft 52123122AB was only $190 my cost.

I posted the incorrect Part # the correct Part # 52123161AA 1 8 42, 81 DG8 Has Yoke With Damper. I got the 42 & 62 mix up (I am very sorry) 52123220AB will work also.

42=QC/LB

62 = REG CAB 8 FT BOX

Hello All,

I got my one piece drive shaft installed last night. I went with part # 52123161AB no dampner. TWest helped with the part numbers and I appreciate his time. Cost with discount from Dodge was $326 plus tax. Approx. 6" diameter aluminum shaft got rid or the annoying vibration at 60mph and vibration when trans shifted plus don't have to worry about carrier bearing or three ujoints(only two now!).

Just friendly reminder to remove the carrier bracket completely to the cross over Plate.

After you remove the carrier bearing and the tall bracket that holds it in place, theres a plate under all that thats fastened to the bottom of a cross member. Do you think that needs to be removed as well?

So what's the Dodge disclaimer about?

I just called Brian at DodgeTruckParts and gave him PN 52123220AAB (for my truck) and he had to read me the Dodge warning before the sale. It was something along the lines of "Do not buy this one piece shaft to replace a 2 piece shaft to resolve launch shudder. Warning: A 1 piece shaft may contact the frame under certain load conditions"

So Im wondering if anyone who has done this conversion has had any problems with drive line rubbing on frame? (And yes, I know about removing the 4 bolt carrier bearing support housing).

Thanks for any advice or experiences.

Joe

Ive got almost 50k on it now under all load conditions and it's fine. Remove the carrier bearing and there isnt going to be anything for it to come in contact with.
