Time for New Tires on the Dullie

Are you saying they installed GY Marathons on your DRV?

If so you won't make it 100 miles before they blow.

Seriously do what I suggested earlier.

No, what I said is that the dealer emailed and said that the last time they replaced tires on a unit they used Marathon's.

Goodyear G614

I just checked GY's rv tires and the closest ones I could find were/are the G614. They only come in a 16" tire and are only rated at 3750. Barely enought to cover the UVW of the DRV. Unless I am not looking for the right webpage I will continue to do some more research. Could not find Marathon's in a 17.5 tire.

Just found the G114 an a 17.5 rated at 4805 per tire and fully inflated is 1k over max GVW of DVR. These are the ones I am hoping the dealer will install.

hey look do you want to spend that much money, for a 5th wheel with a junk fram.look at carriage hichhikers and apenlites and excels.tires are another thing.

You do realize Carriage and Alpenlite use an I-beam frame? Have you even seen how well built the Mobile Suites is? I happen to be buying a used one. I wouldn't even thing about buying a new one. the DRV is a box channel frame that is 15". I want a quality unit and this happens to be what I want. If you don't like it then go somewhere else and rant dude!!

What does your vehicle certification label on the pin box say for GAWR? Just curious because mine says 7K per axle (GVWR is 16K) and the axles have 9/16" studs. I thought the 8K Dexter axles had 5/8" studs, and I'd never heard of anything from Dexter other than the 7K and 8K - IOW, I didn't know Dexter made a 7500 lb axle. Or maybe yours has the Mor-Ryde independent suspension??

That was my point as well with the Marathons - they aren't suitable for a MS.

Rusty

I miss spoke my axles do say 8K. My MS is 07.5 a transaction year. So when I say I have truly 8K axles it's because they say so and I changed to 5/8" studs.

The tag on the pin box says 17,500 and 8,000. I can't remember where i saw something that said 7.5K.

I feel like I am not getting thru. Yes that is what you should have them install! Don't assume.

Yes Lippert makes SOME junk but they build what the RV makers want. DRV specs a top quality frame and it is!

Ummm.....have you ever owned a Mobile Suites? I have, for almost 10 years (see signature). Want to know how many frame problems I've had? Zero. Zip. Nada. The 5th wheels you mention are, by and large, indeed quality units (I'm not an Excel fan), but unfortunately 3 of the 4 are out of business.

Thank you for backing me up Rusty.

Still waiting to hear back from the dealer on the tires. Driver just came to pick up AF today. Now comes the task of getting driweay spot ready for much bigger unit and looking for some sort of cover to keep moss from neighbors tree getting onto trailer. This has been an ongoing problem for the last several years.

Had a great RV cover installed from an company over in Hillsboro for our 5th wheel. We have oak trees and they are messy. It was pretty reasonable and we'll worth it.

NO cover

I can't get a cover for my rig unless it has a canvas roof. My neighbor already tried with the county. Structure must be 10 feet back from the fence line. It cannot be a permanent structure either by the way of securing it to the ground. This county(Coulunbia) is very poorly managed. My only other option is to pay to store it offsite 4 miles away for $100 per month or wait several years and have a bigger shop built to accomadate to DRV. I would very much like a new shop to store it in.

I take that back. It has to be 30' back from the fence line. I remember talking to my neighbor and was ticked off that I could only extend or come out another 10' with the shop.

They told be the same thing; but there is what's called variance. My bulding is about 7 feet from the property line. I had to take lot of color 8" X 10" pictures and pay a fee' but I got my building where I wanted it on MY ground. Might be worth checking out. It is YOUR property. Ken Irwin

I just bought a house for my daughter and SIL with a huge area for my RV's and they won't even be able to see them. An area of 58' long by 25' wide and its 30' from the front property line that starts at the sidewalk. I hope to develop the area in the very near future, but I'm not sure what the city will say, or need to build a structure on that part of the property. I'm pouring a 58'X25' at ____ inches thick (fill in the blank) slab that will have a block wall surrounding the area with gates in front, that I'm doing in May. I've been told to pour a 6" slab at a 3000 psi mix, but the dirt removal will be a huge expense just to get rid of the dirt, but I want a 4" slab with a 4000psi mix with rebar reinforcing it. Any opinions would welcomed on the slab, BTW my 5ver is around 11K dry weight, with a 3500 lb. boat.

My neighbor told me about the variance also. It happens to be $1100 for them to come out and give me 2 more feet. not sure if I want to give the county that much money.

8000lb truck and 5th wheel may be to much for 4in.try 2by 6 form with 6 sack mix and nylon renforce mix.dont forrget the rebar,it will be very strong slab,it worked for me.good look

In 2004, I poured mine using a 1" X 6" for forms. I used the more expensive interstate grade concrete (not sure the actual grade psi) but I did not add the fiberglass. On the edges, I made sure that I had a full 6 inches. I only used concrete wire along the edges and at a couple of triangle pieces I ended up with. So far, I have not had any issues with my 14K truck and my 13K trailer. Top soil is worth money, but it depends on if you can deliver it too those that need it. Ken Irwin
