Competition Question for BBD

Winter is here and the drag racers are quiet and all the pullers are making some noise here- I figured it's high time us drag racers start makin some noise too.

So, who's busy in their shops building real race trucks for the upcoming season? By real race trucks, I mean round moly tube chassis's, not a streeter - racer,I am talking pure racer?

Greg (Comp461) has his deal underway again.
Keating Machine has their program too.
Fletcher has something in the works.
Edge? Will they ever bring The Wolvorine out and play?
David Lott should be runnin too.
RacinDuallie(me) I'm almost ready to get underway. (doubt it'll be done for the start of season though- but Ya never know... )

Come on, who else is building a rig to join the party? ? The more rigs the better- and think of the attendance attraction at the Diesel events- that if a bunch of 150+ mph diesels showed up to run an event that would draw in:cool: . That's gotta bring some kind of purse to race over and pay the fuel so to speak.....

So how about it?Oo.

From what I understand, Joe H is in the show also. RD, you're talking to much money for us country boys. All we do is survive.

An old fabricator. Moved here from Southern California Would like to screw around, do need some help Southern South Carolina or Northern Georgia? BTW I ani't that old 58.

Yes, I too have heard some rumors about Joe H building a rig also, maybe he could post some factual truth here to quelch the rumors?

Preston- Yes the costs are rather steep for some but think of it this way- You can't sit on top of your retirement nest egg forever can you? And you can't take the money with you when they put you in a box either... ... ... lol. Remember that house I told you that my brother and I inherited? Well I'm waiting for the postman to show up any day now and then it's party time!Oo. I've been pre-planning my deal now for months and been in discussion with a chassis builder who is one of the leading Pro Mod Chassis builders in my part of the country and have also been in discussion with a liteweight body supplier who tells me as soon as check is in hand I'll have the body we discussed in a weeks time upon recieving payment and all we are waiting for to get the gears turning is - the postman..... Then the midnight oils will be burnin up to make it happen. Same thing with the rear axle assembly I was told approximatley 3-5 days for the rear I am planning to use...

Can you tell I am looking forward to many sleepless nites working away in the shop? I am also trying to get a diesel shop in my part of the woods on board for a little support as well- I feel they will be on board when the parts start rolling in, and they were in the diesel racing game back when diesel racing was in its infancy so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes according to plans- if not then the nessesary adjustments will be made. ;)

We will be in the show, come hell or high water..... Oo.

Besides Greg needs some more competition so you all have something to banter about!:-laf

We may come out and play hopscotch.....

Dang Preston! I thought YOU wuz my favorite computer pal... . :{

Seriously though- Whereas Greg drives and operates a truck that was already built and run in the NHRA Pro Stock Truck class by Mopar Performance Parts and it was Darrell Aldermans former ride- That unit has tons of high dollar trick parts in it, take the rear for instance- Oh MY GAWD! If that was out of the truck you could actually walk over and grab the pinion yoke with one hand and carry the whole dang rear away with one arm! Lite weight is an understatement! Anyhow Dr. P and Greg have taken a truck that was already built and run , they changed it from runnin a Pro Stock smallblock to diesel- I'm not saying it was a simple thing to do and whatnot- but they had a better foundation to start with it was already rolling state of the art race truck. I am starting from the ground up- clean sheet of paper. . . Once the rolling chassis is completed I'll probably stick in a mildly modified Cummins engine in it and work with that. I like hearing serious talk about building power with these engines, I just wished there was MORE of it out here. . . .

There is PLENTY of knowledge out here and some of that knowledge is pushing the envelope or in Greg's words: Cutting edge. :p Those guy's need to speak alittle more freely and inform us more openly. But I figure a liteweight rolling chassis and the knowledge that I gain everyday I could put that into a lil Cummins and go to the track and have alittle bit o fun. Will i be running with Greg? Well he is the fastest at the present time- Keating machine is closing in on Greg's time and I know that Fletcher will definatley come packing plenty of power as well. I'll probably be at the bottom of the food chain in the class, but this diesel thang has locked in on me and we're gonna give it a shot.

RD,

Sounds like your going to have a fun project for this winter/spring. Keep us posted w/pictures at the different stages. As for me, I hoping to break into the mid 14's with my current set up.

Good luck.
