I took my truck into the dealer for some warranty work, and while it was there and they were doing some software updates, I asked that they change the tire size in the PCM.
I recently installed Pro Comp 305/65-17 tires onto the truck, which have the same diameter as 285/75-17.
The service advisor had commented that they had tried to do this with another customer's 2006 truck with poor results. He said that the speedometer was way off.
Based on what I read here and other boards that for the 2006 truck, all that is needed is to change the tire size to 285 in the ABS section. I asked them to try that.
Now that I have the truck back, my speedometer reads about 15% high (driving at about 70 mph according to GPS, and the speedometer reads 80mph). Unfortunately, I didn't have the GPS unit before the recalibration, so I couldn't check it when it was stock.
What went wrong, and what should I do? If there's no solution, I will simply go back to the stock setting.
Thank you!
