Well Santa was good to me this year, he brought me a new 2006 SLT 2500.

I previousely had a 1999 2500 and notice a difference in how it starts and want to make sure it's normal for the 3rd Gen trucks.

on my 1999 it would start at a touch of the key, on the 2006 it turns over 7 or 8 times and then fires, is this normal?

I was thinking that maybe the it was caused by the fact that they moved the lift pump to the fuel tank... ?

thanks

Terry

read TSB 18-003-06 http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2006-index.htm

this describes the long crank on my 06 to a T. Doesn't happen all the time and when it does is much longer than the 04. 5 i traded off. I'm just waiting for my 1st oil change (free) at the dealer to present this TSB for the long crank, finding the mythical needle grease zert and whatever other gremlins i find in the first 3k before i take over all the maintenance and start my simple mods.

this TSB is for trucks built on or after June 9, 2005 through and

including November 8, 2005. Mine was built Dec 12, 2005 and has the long crank problem. Back in April the dealer reprogramed the computer for long crank and the CEL coming on with a code that had something to do with temp difference.

I still have the long crank on cold startups at times. I have just learned to live with it.

Got mine about Sept. . , don't know the build date. It starts on second revolution of engine, sometimes sputters after it lites off but starts fine. bg
