Some a__ hole liked my tailgate more than I did. Now looking for a used one. What years and models will fit my truck ?

2006 2500 Larmie Quad cab/ four doors 4x4.

Input appreciated. :#@$%!

03-06 ( 02 half tons as well ) are the same. I think 07-09 will fit but I believe the wiring is different. Shadrach

OOPS I just realized you said tail gate and not tail light  my bad

Interesting that you should mention that. A month or so ago the local news (North Texas) ran a story about the rising rate of tailgate thefts. Makes me wish I had locking tailgate. Good luck with the new one. Maybe you can get an aftermarket tailgate lock to prevent it from happening again.

You could secure the right sized hose clamp around the passenger side pivot end and set the clamp screw so that it is tightened by a wrench instead of a screw driver. Makes it a PITA to remove the tailgate if you do this regularly but it also makes it a PITA for the thieves and they move on to the next truck.

What is this world coming to... Have you considered using your insurance and just a getting a new one ?

Another option is the Gate Keeper. I had the tailgate stolen off the 99' by the fine folk in Oakland:rolleyes:. I put the gate keeper on all mine and my families trucks. Same principle as the hose clamp. The key is just to make it that much more difficult to steal it.

I use a hose clamp the I tighten from underneath the bumper when the tailgate is open. It may not STOP them but it sure will slows them down.

I also just sold my flow thru tailgate. It fits from the 03 to the new 09 styles. The truck is went on was a 2009 and it fit perfectly.

I've used the hose clamp trick for more years than I care to remember - - It works!

Found the lock system that hooks to the door locks is a good deal - - - had three key tailgate locks and all of them froze up after a short time.

Souders-

I hate to admit it but I backed into a telephone pole not knowing my tailgate was down... ... and basically ruined it!!! I bought mine on ebay for around $250. It actually came off of a 2008 Power Wagon and fit with no issues. I havent gotten around to removing the "power wagon" and all my friends are telling me to leave it on. ;-) I kind of like it on the mega as well!! ;-) The guy I bought it from gets them from the government... ... . apparently they were taken off of border patrol trucks. He told me that when they get the trucks they remove the bed and install a utility type flat-bed on them??? Any who it fits and the price was right!!! I would also check craigslist. Good luck!!
