For my 2006 2500 CTD QC LWB with automatic transmission, what are the opinons out there in TDR land about those X-monitor gauge pods that show EGT, boost & transmission temps? Are they worth the money? Looks like a neat package. Are they hard to install?

Also, any thoughts on those dual steering column pods. I want to be able to monitor engine oil temperature and coolant temperature as I pull a large 5th wheeler through mountainous states.

The X-Monitor works fine for me. I installed it myself and didn't find it hard to do. The instructions are pretty good. If you want to do a neat job, plan on spending a day to do it right. Could be done in several hours if you've done it before.

I wouldn't bother with extra oil and coolant gauges unless you are planning on exceeding the factory limits on towing. Even then, oil and coolant temps are not normally a problem on these trucks.

Thanks for the encouragement to do the X-monitor myself.

I will probably order from Geno's Garage in a couple of weeks unless someone knows of a cheaper place.

Byron :)
