Can any of you guys who have installed the A-pillar gauges in a 2007. 5 or 2008 truck tell me what guage pod you used. I have been told by my dealer that the 2003-2006 A-pillar guage pods will work but my local truck shop told me that they bought a 2006 pillar for a 2007. 5 truck that they did and it didn't even come close to fitting. I would like to add guages to the truck as soon as possible but I don't want to waste my time and money buying something that wont fit.

They are the exact same piece. In fact, the whole truck is the same with exception of the auto shifter (has the manual shift button) the engine/trans, exhaust system, stuff like that. But as far as the interior and body parts, theyre the same.

They are the same. Put my 2006 piller on my 2008 yesterday. exactly the same.

Where are you picking up the ignition lead from?

Bill

I fed the ign. on the 2006 from a relay set up on the rad. support. Looking to grab it inside this time.

Sorry for the above miss leading. I installed the relay for extra circuits on the rad. support. Could not find ignition live source had to put a switch in the circuit. this was a pain in the butt.

I read your post regarding the a-pillar pod mount for gauges and don't know whether or not you use the grab handle or not, but I would highly recommend using the autometer 3 gauge dash mount pod which will allow you to retain the grab handle. I have a 07. 5 Dodge 2500 and just installed this pod with the Autometer Ultralite II digital gauges and I'm very impressed with this set-up. From a safety standpoint, the gauges are in the same visual plane as your view of the road ahead of you, so you don't have to glance away from the road to see your gauges (kind of important when towing or in heavy traffic conditions). I use my grab handle every time I get into the truck, so removing it wasn't an option I wanted to consider.

Having owned both digital and analog gauges in the past, I much prefer the digital ones because they eliminate all guesswork on what the gauge is reading. I work at a diesel shop in Colorado Springs, Colorado and whenever I talk with a customer interested in gauges, I always try and show them a digital gauge set-up and to date, none of them have opted for analog gauges after seeing the digital gauges in operation.....
