Looking at an early 2007 3500 with super low miles. Does it have a better HVAC system than the early 3rd gens?

My 04.5 was a great truck but I hated the A/C system with a passion.

Actaully the A/C compressor on the 2006 up models was sourced from a different manufacturer and from the number of problem threads that I read on sebveral forums, it and/or it's clutch mechanism are much more prone to failure then the earlier model compressors. That's not to say that the AC system doesn't work well when it is operating.

The beef I had with the A/C system was the flow design. The passenger side never blew cold and sometimes during the summer months, it almost felt like ambient air temperture coming from the passenger vents. The lower floorboard vents were terrible also.

I installed Heater Treater doors, completely rebuilt the HVAC system and recharged with no improvements. My wife won't tolerate that again. Especially since she dealt with it during her last pregnancy.

For what you have to pay for a really clean 2007 5.9, I would look for a left over 2014. Snoking

Not going to find a 2014 Laramie 3500 for $30K

Why sell an 04.5 to buy a 07? Same basic truck with less comfortable seats.

I too would look into a new truck over the price of a used 07 5.9.

My 05 has never had the A/C issues that many post about, not sure what the difference is thou. It does get to 110° here.

I've read one of our members post stating he wished Ram would hire an hvac engineer from GM. I just wish they'd grab one from Jeep. I don't understand it. Same parent Co. Every Jeep I've ever ridden in would frost the windows. My 06 Wrangler has 3 times the interior cu. footage and much better AC. Can there possibly be that much animosity between divisions?

My intentions have been to pick up an 2014/15 this whole time. The only reason I sold my 04 was due to mileage (almost 300K) and I wasn't going to put any large sums of money to keep it going if/when it broke.

I am just curious about this 07 that showed up for sale around here. It's an old mans truck with just a hair over 50K but I know it's my 04.5 with a different front clip and dash. I'm going to check it out anyway and see how well the A/C performs.

I just might end up back in a 3rd gen......

Henderson: You're right. I bought this little 94 Toyota 4x4 PU to run around in about a year ago. On a 109 temp day, this little dude will frost your arm hair. I know it's a smaller cab but if my 04 had as much A/C balls as this Toyota, I'd been a happy camper.

On my last 06 Mega I got a leak in an AC hose, replaced the hose and installed a four seasons compressor, the AC was way colder then it had ever been since new.

I would say that the AC in our '07 is somewhat better than our '04.5. However, I have had to replace the blend doors on the '07 but not on the '04.5.

I have an 07 5.9 mega and i have never had any problems out of my A.C. or the blend doors everyone is raving about, it could use a little more air pressure for the rear, but nobody back there has complained and i have 135,000 miles on it, Monte

I have owned both and currently have the 07 C&C, the AC performance seems the same. Both seem to need an extra effort to cool on a hot day, the 04.5 had the door issue after the warranty, the Dealer did go in half on the repair though. It's the only thing I'm disappointed about in Dodge. I had a 05 POC Duramax that performed poorly, even the overrated Alison was a POC, but that AC kicked ash.

I don't know where the problematic is?
The AC in my truck works flawlessly, hot in winter, cold in summer, may because it has the Dualzone Aircon???

I hear you, when I was shopping for my 07 Megacab it was clearly evident that some trucks had a/c issues with the passenger side. It got to the point when we were test driving we could only get a block or so from the dealer and my wife would say, "no way, let's go back". Some of the salesmen were really puzzled! After about six or seven trucks one dealer called me and said he just got in a truck that he wanted me to drive. Wife said yes, and that's what I'm driving today. No issues with the A/C but did have to replace the compressor a few years ago. Agree that there should be better air flow to the back seat!
