I'm a new owner of a used 2007 dodge laramine 4x4. The truck runs smother when at an idle. In park or in gear the engine runs rough and shakes the whole truck between 1300 and 2000 rpm. It really shakes hardest at 1700 rpm. I've had it looked at after replacing fuel filter and swapping the injectors out. The dealer ship said 4 injectors were still bad and replaced them. I got the truck back and the problem still exists. What is this problem and how can I fix it?

Welcome to TDR sorry for your problems. You may want to start this thread in the 3rd gen under engines/ transmissions. Maye the moderator will see and move it for you.

As p-Bar suggested, post your question again in the Gen III engines section where it will be better noticed and responded to. A moderator will delete this post later.

Did the dealer that replaced the injectors return it to you running like that without explanation or recommended course of action after charging you to install four new injectors?

It may have dropped a valve seat or bent a valve.

How long have you owned it and how many miles have you driven it? Any engine modifications?

You probably need a good Dodge dealership with a competent Cummins tech. Not all dealer techs can be trusted to work on them.

CElmore... I created a thread on this same issue.

https://www.turbodieselregister.com...ions-2003-2007/229603-rough-idle-startup.html

There could be several culprits. Ive just been letting it ride and it hasnt gotten any better or worse really. Read that thread... maybe it will help. Injector cleaner seemed to help for a little bit. Mine also white smokes a little when it runs rough too. Never does it when warm... only from a cold start. (when I say cold I mean the first start of the day, I live in TX and its summer so its not really "cold")

Gonna probably try the FCA first... 120$ from genos.

Reman injectors again. Probably still have injector issues that are subtle but result in what you see.

About the only solution is new, not reman, injectors, or, pull them and send to a shop that can actually test, repair, and balance them.
