If I read the law correctly, we the taxpayers will be subsidizing the first 60,000 hybrids and "clean" diesels of any model in production.
I think the break will be proportional to how much it saves over a gasser. But I am not sure that it will apply to our "Heavy" trucks or just the 1500??? They don't rate mpg for heavy trucks, so would someone call the IRS and find out if it applies to us. If it does, then buy the ULSD motor fast, before the 60,000 are sold.
Or buy the old one while it's available. I'm sure the new will cost a few thou more, but will it really get better mpg than a Hemi? (we hope so!) The Silverado hybrid only gets like a $300 tax break, hardly worth anything.
