Where to find truck?

Minor Help!

:)I just bought a 2007 Ram 2500 with the 5. 9 Cummins diesel. I have had a 1996 Ford F250 with a 7. 3 Powerstroke for the last 10 years. Where is the fuel filter on my new truck and is it easy to change? How effective is a K&N air filter? I am a fulltime RVer pulling a 12,000 lb. fifth wheel. Any other suggestions for simple performance enhancements?

I can't comment on the fuel filter location, but I would not use a K & N air filter on your truck. There are many more and much better options out there than K&N filters.

My second to the no-go with K&N. Yes, I used one for a period of time on my '94. It let a LOT more dirt through and passed some filter oil downstream.

Not for use with forced induction, imho.

RAH out.

you've probably found it in other posts already, but-

On the 5. 9, fuel filter location-

open hood, stand at drivers side wheel, look in.

See yellow handle- this is at base of fuel filter housing.

Yellow handle rotates to drain fuel filter bowl (to drain water etc. )

Fuel filter is located beneath black plastic cap at top of that housing.

Note after you open & close the yellow handle

(to drain water from fuel or to change fuel filter) there's a special

procedure you need to do, to re-fill the fuel bowl before starting the

engine. (turn the key to ON, let it stand for few minutes- this cycles

the electric lift pump to re-fill the reservior. Turn key OFF)

Do this about 3x before starting the engine. This prevents getting

air into the high pressure pump.

Is there any special procedure that I should do to change the fuel filter? I've had mine changed several times, but I'm working a lot less now and would like to take on some maintenance issues myself.

This reply says it all. Changing the filter is very easy. The only additional thing I do is temporarily add heater hose to the drain line. This extends the drain into my oil waste container. Leaves no mess on the front axle. Adds about one minute too the job.

Be sure to buy the 7micron filter. Factory standard was 10micron.
