2007black smoke no power

2007 egr was removed and pipes rodded out. after filling up started blowing black smoke and no power. No comp. codes or lights, drained fuel added additives no luck. sounds like the exhaust break is open . Any ideas. this is a buddies truck not mine.

Check the intercooler hoses first. Make sure the clamps are tight and there are no holes. That's the cheap and easy place to start.

Can a 2007 6.7 diesel be driven with the fuse #37 pulled. It is for the turbo.

The exhaust brake is integral to the turbo, and I am not sure what you mean by open. The non-brake position of the VGT is open.

Did this occur immediately after the EGR/DPF mods? What tuning is used to bypass the EGR/DPF?

Without codes it sounds like a air leak, so I would follow what AMink recommended.

Another cheap check is pull the intake hose off the turbo, might be a shop rag stuck there.
