I have a 2008 2500, I have been trying to find out if in fact the fuel injectors have to be "assigned" in the computer on an 08. I have searched and never got it solved.
Thanks

All 6.7 have injector codes that the controller needs to see. The old VM in the Liberty would not start if the codes were not there but the 6.7 will run, may set CEL or not idle as smooth.

Thanks sag2 that is what I was looking for. I am putting in a new set of injectors in a new reman engine. Is there anything i should know when i fire this thing off the first time? Will it prime itself, like if you changed your fuel filter, and do it several times?
Thanks Dirk

Not all years of the 6.7 use injector codes but yes the early years did.The aftermarket performance injector companies do not require new codes to be input. My personal experience has shown very little to none on idle quality improvement from the correction codes. While you are doing the assembly be sure to record the numbers and what cylinder they are going into.It is not real easy to read the numbers once they are installed. If the number/letter combination you attempt to enter is incorrect it will set a dtc very quickly.

Just be meticulous on torquing fuel tube nuts and injector lines. Mine was loosing pressure on#5 fuel tube after a shop reassembled it and failed to properly torque the nut. And surgically clean...

Its extremely rare to program the codes, I have done it twice, and it wasn't necessary......Yes for precautionary reasons you should record the code and the hole #, just in the extremely rare occasion it needs the imputes.
