Need some assistance! On my way to Alaska (in Minneapolis ). I have 2008 2500 6.7 auto (stock -no tuners ever) 216 K, about 2k into my journey got a P2002 code. Initially could not erase the code with scan tool (innova 8100) after overnight stop I was successful. After code set I noticed a drop off in MPG on the overhead 10 mpg from 15 ( about 5k on my trailer- GTW) plus struggling up hills (boost running 25" plus lots of downshifting.) No other codes, noticed excessive soot accumulation on side of truck as well as under light to moderate acceleration. No apparent exhaust leaks. Lie-O-meter runs in the 16 MPG's now no load. Temp gauge runs 210-215 in OAT 45 F. Have done 3 drive cycles since reset and code has not repeated. No other codes present. My first thought was injectors (soot+temps) . Perhaps a cummins fuel worksheet at the dealer ? Recommend a independent or dealer in Minneapolis/St Paul.
