OK, 2008 Laramie CTD with auto. 3500 miles. Absolutely no issues before today - Figured I was in Hog Heaven. Today drove from Portland to Seattle empty. On return trip, at about 350 miles of effectively all highway run, my CEL comes on and returns after three or four restarts. Getting over 21 MPG on the overhead, I assume about 19 when checked with fill up so the engine is running well. No oil pressure or temp issues, no smoke.

What does this mean based on people's experiences?

I'm really disappointed... ... ...

I'd be willing to bet quit a bit that if we actually checked your mileage it isn't anywhere near 21 MPG #@$%! If it's over 15 - you've got a guiness record holder I think.....

Actually, I took a trip from Portland to Bend and back about three weeks ago. This was over the mountains in rain and snow on the pass. This was about a 400 highway mile trip total and the hand calculated mpg was 18. 7, that's why I said I figured it was about 19. This is on a bone stock 2008 3/4 ton CTD with a Leer canopy, on speed control set between 60 and 65. So far, my average of all driving is about 15. 5, hand calculated over 3,500 miles.

I tried the key on/key off, key on/key off, key on - routine and didn't get a code on the instrument panel. Where is the problem code supposed to show up??

The problem code will show up for a short time right on your digital odometer. The key on/off needs to be done very fast for any code to show.

I have had to CEL's lights on my 2008 Built in Aug, 07 bought new in Nov, 2007. The first was a P0128, this was on an extremely cold day -10 F engine not warmed up enough and entering the on ramp for the interstate. The other time was a CEL and no code showed at all did the key trick. Asked the dealer and they stated that some codes are stored but will not be displayed. Need to have a scanner to read the code. I forgot what the code was but the dealer was not concerned and he reset the ECM. Had the truck for an hour, mechanic discussed the issue with me an assured me there was no problem. Since then I have put on 2K miles with no issue, oil change light just came on last night now I need to get the oil changed. Avg. fuel mileage is 12. 5 at mostly 45 MPH daily driver. Will be towing a 5er durning the camping season.

______

I went to the dealer. Ended up a P2000 error code.

Dealer reflashed with AP and updated the overhead display. This fixed the error code, can't tell a difference in how the truck runs.
