2008 g56 failure?

after a short trip to grocery store with no problems, I started engine and engaged transmission and nothing happened except a metallic sound in all gears I've heard that a gear that transfers power to the other gears can fail and no power is available. any ideas? I had it towed to my local shop and i'm waiting for his analysis.

Is the transfer case in neutral? Need more information about your truck.

my truck is 2500 2wd

So you have the same noise in neutral and every forward gear? If so it sounds more like the clutch hub is broken out.

That was going to be my guess that the clutch has failed.... Ether way you've got to pull the transmission and find out.....
