Just completed the installation of the 2009 T style steering linkage. The new setup steers much easier. The occasional groaning sound in the steering colm. is gone also.

I did not change the pitman arm due to the fact that I have the Borgeson Steering Box. It came installed with a pitman arm.

The only dislike is the slight steering bump or feedback that I feel on the steering wheel itself. When I go over a bump or dip the steering wheel turns on it's own---just a slight amount.

On the original Y style linkage I did not feel any feedback or steering bump

I do have the Carli 2. 0 Suspension on this truck.

Has anyone had this same issue?

That is the issue with t-type steering and that much lift, you get some bump steer. The drag link is running at a pretty high angle from the picture. A drop pitman arm would help but if the bump is not causing major yaw then I would not worry. The t-type tightens the steering to where it is much more predictable so once you are used to the feel it is usually not an issue.

thanks for the reply. I put a dropped pitman in & the steering bump was much worse. I took it out & put the Borgeson supplied arm on & the steering bump was a lot less--but still there.

Thanks, Herman

Cerberusiam--I noticed on another thread that you mentioned that Borgeson has a pitman arm for the 2008. 5+ linkage. I emailed them about a replacement & refered me to Source Automotive. The one I ordered from Source was for a 3" to 5" lift but it seemed way to much when I put it on & the Steering Bump was excessive. Do you know how much drop the up graded pitman arm is is from Borgeson?

Thanks, Herman

The Borgeson pitman arm for the 2008+ steering upgrade is basically for stock to leveling kit use. It has the same drop as a stock arm. Even with my truck at the height of a leveling kit the geometry is good. My next suspension add will probably be the Carli starter to level the truck and it look slike things should work.

What lift do you have on that truck? Could just be the camera angle but it seems rather high. If it is only 4" then I think the stock pitman would work better.

Do you have the upgraded HD pitman arm joint also, or, the upgrade replacement to use with stock pitman arm?

The lift is about 3". I think that is what the Carli 2. 0 Performance lift is. As far as replacement parts... I order the kit from Source & it had everything included. The only change I made was the 3"-5" dropped pitman arm--which is too much. I did look at a pitman arm off a 2002 Dodge & it fits the Borgeson Box shaft. It was flat (no off set) & the hole for the linkage end was too small but thats an easy fix----if the flat arm would work. One thing I did notice is the Borgeson supplied pitman arm has the linkage attached to the top of the arm same as the OME set up where as the replacement arm from Source was a bottom mount. Here is a different view of the front end.
