In the summer of 2018 I had my evaporator coil replaced. At the time I recall having issues with the recirc. door too and the mechanic confirmed it; said it wasn't working and he'd fix it while he was in there. Well, he finished with the project and AC ran ran great! I was very pleased with the work...until the winter time. I live in FL so the need for heat isn't too great or that often but when I turned the knob for heat, I got no heat. I suspect he robbed the blend door actuator and replaced the recirc. door actuator with it. He was doing this work in my driveway and I don't recall him running out after any more parts. Anyway, as it turns out and you all may know already, the blend door actuator is on the firewall side of the HVAC unit and the whole dash needs to come out again. Does this sound right or is there something else I should be checking as far as hose connections or anything like that? It's been tolerable for the last 5 yrs but I plan to drive north this coming year and will definitely need heat.
In addition, I've always turned the system off when I get out of the truck. I suspect I may have worn out the on/off knob. What makes me think this is when I turn the truck on, I'll turn the AC on and it may not come on right away. It could be a couple minutes before it comes on. Other times it may come on immediately but then shut off for a minute or two then come back on. In the meantime, I hear some low pitched squeaks coming from under the center console. Like something is trying to move. It could be under the dash but it sounds to me like it's under the center console. Any idea what that could be?
