Bought a 2010 3500 the other day. Check engine light came on last night. Hooked up my scanner this morning and kept getting the error reading like it won't link. Anyone know if the new trucks are different somehow? My scanner usually works on everything. Thanks in advance.

I tried that without any luck as well. I will try to talk to a tech while at the dealer to see what the deal with getting the codes is. Might just need an updated code reader. With the information center in the dash it would be nice if it would just give you the codes. The MIL is on but no messages have appeared.

"Bought a 2010 3500 the other day. Check engine light came on last night. " I sure love my 2006 5. 9l!!!

That's helpful, thank you.

I loved my 2005 and never had any problems with it. I trust that this will be nothing major and will not keep me from loving my 2010.

Going to the dealer this afternoon and will share any information I receive.

That is what I was thinking too. Smartass replies do nothing to help. It is great that the dude has an older truck, but without sales of the new trucks, our hobby/passion would be in jeopardy. Yep, I am glad to have an old non computerized '96 and a non egr, non catalyst '03, but I wait with orgasmic anticipation for the new CRD Wrangler, despite its guaranteed complexity. I love the new 6. 7 powered trucks. I do not need a new truck yet, but when someone does, what to the "bashers" of the new technology expect us to do? Would you rather see them get a new Ford or Chevrolet?

something tripped the EGR sensor, they didn't tell me the exact code. They could not duplicate the problem so the code was reset and has not been a problem again so far. Didn't have a chance to talk to the tech, but talked with the sales manager and he said something along the lines that they are still OBD II but updated or something. Might be time for a new code reader.

I too have been waiting on the crd wrangler. just bought a rubicon unlimited in anticipation of trading it on a diesel. However, allpar news suggests once again that the 2. 8L 174 hp/364ftlb diesel may only go to europe.
