It's about time we saw something. Does anybody else think this might be a Crew Cab in disguise of a Mega?

"The HD version of the Ram will likely take most of its styling cues from the more pedestrian ‘09 Ram, but will surely have some muscular flair to it. This prototype also indicates that Dodge will offer its extra long Mega Cab on the new truck.

Officially, the new heavy duty entry from Dodge will likely break cover in January at the NAIAS in Detroit. "

2010 Dodge Ram - Latest News, Features, and Reviews - Automobile Magazine

"The integrated trailer brake controller should also be available for the new 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickups when they're launched in the fall of 2009. "

"We're told that for the first time, the larger trucks will sport a unique front fascia, but we're happy to hear that the large Rams will make use of the same interior as the 2009 Ram 1500. "

"Expect to see the output from signature Cummins diesel engines remain about even with today's engine (350 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque), or even drop slightly in order to improve fuel economy. Scott Kunselman, vice president of truck product development, believes fuel economy is more important to truck buyers than the ability to pull the largest possible trailer up huge hills at 85 mph. Beefing up the transmission, chassis, and other related components to handle much more power would add weight and cost to the truck and only a handful of buyers would ever make use of it. Most of these heavy-duty trucks are used in fleets, and fleet managers are more interested in reducing fuel cost than seeing outrageous power levels. "

I don't think those pictures are showing a mega cab... they look nearly identical to the spy shots of the 09 1500 which also had the extra camouflage at the rear of the cab... to me, it just looks like the new crew cab.

some things you can definitely see are that it has a longer bed than the 1500 crew cab(5'-3") and that the "Ram Box" is not a part of that package... and it most certainly is a gasser.

Oh and what appears to be a hood scoop is most likely just the new, raised center hood section found on the 09 1500's.

Still has a solid front axle, and maybe manual hubs??? Just guessing because of the black covers on the wheels.

Also looks like it has turn signals in the mirrors.

Don't know if anybody has mentioned this yet, but the thing I just noticed is the lack of the annoying "snow doors". I looked at the 1500 pics to verify this but the door frame doesn't wrap up over the roof like the current models. Instead the door gaps are lower down hopefully fixing the snow falling on the seat problem.

I'm pretty sure they are getting rid of the megacab, at least thats is what has been going around with the 1500's, maybe they will keep it for the HD since a 1500 mega is just a gas hog.

Good catch...

and yes, the Mega Cab will be history after the 2009 Ram 2500/3500 models... the 1500 Mega was just a rebadged 2500 Mega...

Any info on this brake control?

Is this the same thing that we got now - just hidden in the dash?

Or - would it be more "old skewl" in design and be able to vary the output linear with peddle pressure?

What is this supposed to mean??? Isn't the already lame fuel economy caused by the dumb emissions equipment that is currentally hanging off of the 6. 7? I say let the trucks run without being burdened by this crap. Just sayin you know

Brake controller

I'd love for them to make the brake controller on the heavy duties a paddle behind the steering wheel. That way you wouldn't have to take your hands off the wheel and lean forward to activate the brakes. Hell for that matter, make the paddle on the other side control the exhaust brake.

anybody want to bet that these won't

be built????? I'm thinking that these have been overtaken by events... They can't sell what they have - unless these are electric or plug in hybrids..... I'm thinking they are a dinosaur... .

I'm thinking they are not dinosaurs and will sell pretty darn good. Alot of people still need heavy Duties and I'm sure there are plenty companies ready to jump ship from the General or Ford.

I'll be getting one.

Dinasours? Are you kidding? What is going to replace them that can pull our campers, haul our hay, tow our pontoon boats, etc? There will always be a need for heavy-duty pickups, no matter how high fuel prices go.

Cut with the chicken little already. Demand will just go thru a market correction, back to what is needed vs. what is nice to have.
