2010 Key fobs

I did not like the idea of not having the old hide a key that would work. So I bought two used 2010 RAM fobs on E-bay. Question, can I program them myself or do I have to have dodge do it and can it even be done ?

If the used fobs were not unmarried from their origional vehicle they are useless. If they were unmarried and you have two working fobs for your vehicle you can program the extra fobs yourself.

My understanding is that they need to be programed using the STAR scan tool at the dealer. They are not programable by the general public. I am currently waiting for replacement fobs under warranty and they are on back order.

Can't say for the 2010 but I lost one key early on and had to go to dealer for new one, key was like $139. 00 and they charged me one hour labor to program($85. 00) I ordered some spares off internet and programmed them my self, takes about two minutes, all required is that you have two working keys. My replacements are just the chipped key, no remote door control. bg

Once a Chrysler key is coded to the wireless control module, they are useless on any other vehicle. The RKE might work on them, but forget starting it. Hopefully you didn't pay too much.

I have an 08 5500 and we bought on ebay NEW blanks with the key fob, with the chip for something like $22 each... . we than programed them to fit the truck, you can do this your self if you follow the owners manual and have 2 other sets... than we had the key cut to match the tumbler... .
