I just finished posting my report, the official press releases for the 2500/3500 and the 3500/4500/5500 Chassi Cabs, 155 pictures, and full video of todays press release. What was up earlier today was just the official press release for the 2500/3500. Here's the link to everything - 2010 Dodge Ram Press Introduction TDR Coverage . Hopefully I covered everything of interest - it's been a LOOOOOONG day. Enjoy!

Steve, I wanted to be the first to thank you for all of your hard work on this.

Too bad we can't get a long bed Mega Cab. We can apparently get a lighted steering wheel though!

I like the looks of the truck and think the interior is a big improvement, but I'll be keeping my 5. 9 Mega Cab and saving for a long bed conversion.

Any word on what the GVW's will be for the rest of the trucks? It seems like they only gave the 2500 crew cab's 9600lb rating and the GCWR for the 3500's. I would be intrested to see how the rest of the models compare to the last model year in GVW. Any word on the 4 switches being available in the pickup?

Thanks for the good write ups Steve!

Look at Steve's GREAT photo album and you will see the new GVW ratings. 3500 dually is 25,400 LBS.

As I said in the article I have an inquiry into them to try to get the specs on the rest of the trucks. No promises though, it's possible they haven't been written yet and I don't always get responses to the after the fact email questions.

Not sure if you were joking or not (still REAL tired) but that's just there to show the heated steering wheel - just like the seat lighting up in red for heat and blue for cold. Those pictures are from the cutaway truck they had on display.

Steve, nice job as usual!

I will have one of these C&C in a year or two, probably a 2011 in fall of 2010, or something like that, the 2001 will be 10 YO then.

I wasn't sure I liked the 4th GEN body style on the 1500's and was hoping for more of a departure on the HD sheet metal, however it is what it is, LOL.

Lots of things I do like, especially on the C&C models, up-fitter wiring, etc. and the cab interiors looks to be quite an upgrade from the 3rd GEN.

I like the looks of the cab marker lights, wonder if those are LED and if they would bolt to a 2nd GEN?

What are the additional "blanks" for in the aux switch panel on the C&C models? Can more than the standard four switches be added there?

Any word on running LED lights on the C&C with after market beds without screwing around with lamp out indicators?

I seem to remember that when the 1500's came out last year that to get quad headlamps required certain trim packages, what will be the requirement for the quad lamp setup on the 2010 C&C?

How big is the DEF tank?

Any trucks on display with a manual transmission?

Did you get any more detailed shots of the SCR injection, etc? On the 3rd GEN C&C, the DPF is ALL under the cab, making stacks on a C&C truck somewhat feasible, is the SCR plumbing, etc. now in the space between the back of cab AND the axle?

In one of the shots, the DPF ( I think that is what it is) looks to be hanging pretty low, I am concerned about that, AND the possibility of igniting brush and grass off road where certainly some C&C trucks will be used including mine for sure when I get it.

Just went and looked at your photos again, it appears the item hanging low is the muffler just in front of the rear axle?

The Dodge website has the specs up for all the models now. Its in the auto show section. Click on the get updates tab and in the next window there is a link. Seems odd that the GVW stays at 12,200 with the front axle capacity going up...

Not straight from the factory but they are available for the upfitters (or you) to utilize.

Don't know.

Not sure. But the chassis cab is available in ST, SLT, and Laramie so if there is a difference in headlights on the 1/2 ton with those packages I would expect the same difference here.

How big is the DEF tank?

I'd estimate it at 3-4 gallons

Nope.

All of those pictures were of the SCR system - pictures 631-637. The DPF is in the same location as it was - everything forward of the SCR is identical to the '09 trucks. 632 is in front of the SCR, 634 is at the back of the SCR. If you look at 637 you'll see that it doesn't hang down much lower than the frame section below the cab. I'm taking the picture from almost on the floor looking up to get the best view so your seeing more of it than you would if looking straight across.

I just want to add to what others have said..... excellent reporting, Steve! This site always has the most complete coverage of these auto shows (in regard to our trucks) and my family is glad your coverage of this event is finally posted. For three days prior to the 11th I was reminding them of the countdown. :-laf

By the way, I noticed they put the windshield washer fluid tank up by the radiator. Is their thinking that this helps to keep the fluid warm? I've often wondered why the washer fluid tanks aren't placed back by the firewall or some other place where the engine heat would keep the fluid warm.

from the looks of it i should be able to bolt that front end on my 3rd gen, love my truck and would never trade it, but i could do without the funny looking euro headlights that the 3rd gens (06-09) have. plus i would rather have my 5. 9 than a 6. 7 with all that emisions bs.

Great photos, and the writeup is wonderfull, it does look like the same front driveline in the 4x4 2010 as is in my 2005, I hope we don't have the same Ball Joint, U-oint issues all over again, they had to have redone the under dash HVAC door issue?, I am going to let one year of others experiences before I decide on one.

Not an expert on 3rd GENS, BUT haven't there been continuous improvements to the front ends?

On the HAVC issues, I would hope that was fixed with the 4th GEN body style, the 2010 HD will have the same cab as the 2009 body style for the 1500's that is currently in production, from all accounts the cab is much improved.

IMO, the 2010 HD "should" be pretty well bug free, since it is the 2nd year of the sheet metal AND essentially the 8th year of the chassis (with incremental improvements) and 4th year for the 6. 7 (if I have done all the math correctly!), so it should be pretty polished! Still, I will likely wait until 2011 when my 2001 is 10 years old, assuming the economy picks up and I can afford to do!
